Does the X-Box controller become truly wired when using the USB-C cable.

I ask this question because I can remove the battery from the controller and connect to a USB charging port on my power strip and the controller works fine. Obviously the USB port is providing power to the transmitter. Is this also the case when connecting the cable to a USB port on the X-Box series X, or does it also send key presses across the cable?

I watched a video of some guy testing keypress response time using the standard X-Box controller wirelessly and the with the battery removed and USB-C cable connected and he had more lag with the cable connected. His argument was radio waives are faster than digital signals. Generally this is true, but in this case it doesn't take in consideration processing time from key press to transmitter to receiver and back to digital. So I'm not sure that would be a good comparison for wired vs wireless.

Yes, if you connect the controller wired to the console or PC the batteries are not going to be used (this is why you can turn on the controller without batteries when connected via cable)

As a friendly advise, never use YouTube videos as a final statement. We really don't know if the guy did the thing for views or what thing is causing this "lag" in his room, or if the port used is not fully functional, etc.

It's better to always try things for yourself.

In my personal opinion, if you're not too far from the console. Use the controller wirelessly

On the Xbox 360 a wired controller was wired and a wireless controller was always wireless even when using a play and charge cable. On the Xbox One if you hook up a controller using a mini usb to usb cable it becomes a wired controller. So take out the batteries,
use a mini usb to usb cable and voila. This has been confirmed by MS. I wil ltry to find the link.

Almost any USB C to USB A cable (your standard USB Phone/tablet charge cable) will work fine for PC or console gaming with a Series X type controller. I use a 2M USB C cable to connect my Series X controller to my PC.

I don't have any Bluetooth issues, but using a cable does avoid changing the batteries so much. 😁

Sorry bit there is no 'correct 360 controller cable'.

A 360 wireless controller remains wireless even when plugged in, it does not become wired if you connect via USB. The reason is because the controller isn't designed to send data down a USB cable.

Only the Xbox One controller works wired and wireless.

The controller has an USB Type C to A cable included in the box. The cable is backwards compatible to USB 2.0.

But you can also use your own USB A to C cable if you want.
