Does the newer XB1 consoles have the DRM patch pre-installed, or does it still need to be ...

I think the topic title says it all.

I ask this because there are more than a few new customers I'm currently speaking or reading comments from all around the internet who really want to buy an XB1 but are hesitant due to the necessity of having to download the DRM patch just to play
their games out of the box.

For some, it's the lack of a solid internet connection and for others, it's the principle.

Anyone have any concrete answers for this or at least viable workarounds outside of having to run to someone else's home in the hopes of downloading it to a flashdrive? Can the patch be sent to people free of charge for instance? If so, how long
would that take?

I'm hoping the answer is simply, "It comes pre-installed now." but we'll see.

xbox one games question. No battles piz, legit question.

Since they say all new game releases will be available on day of launch, and all games need to be installed on the HDD, Is it really necessary to pre order games??? If I can just download them that would be fine with me. Does anyone know? Please no console
battles here, just an innocent question about the functionality on the xb1. Just wanna know if I need to order the pre order games at walmart, gamestop, etc... Or can I jus download them when I activate my system on day 1... Thanx...

 

quick question on hdd transfer

when transferring data to a new console using the transfer cable does it move over games installed from disc or do they need to be re-installed?

 

By now yes. But if you get a dash update today. It be down the line they manufacter a consonsole be on the store. It like the old 360 and PS3. Newer built will have the update. It not because they are being nice about it. But for compatalbity to newer games
in the market. Some games only run on most reasent dashboard update.

 

Thank you for replying, Dakrkplayer but I would love to get a more official answer for this issue before I run with anything. Maybe from anyone in tech support or new XB1 buyers who can speak on not having to install it when loading up their systems.

because i bought one earlier this year, and still had to to do the patch (something i found odd, and thought it would be included by now. but thankfully i have internet)

i've also read quite a few cases of this being the only/main stumbling block for people not buying it.. unsure whether they need to go online to play offline (how absurd is that idea anyway though eh?)

MS really should address this and give everyone an official; it works out of the box now. i think their "we have an offline console for you (x360) " is the still the last official word we've got about this.

 

I purchased my XB1 a couple of months ago and it worked out of the box.

With all consoles you need to updae the console anyways

Including ps4 and wii

The drm patch is mis understood

It wouldve allowed you tonplay your games and sell them as you saw fit including digital games

Now digital games are locked to your account

 

The family share wouldve allowed you to laon your games out without actually giving them the disk for 24hours to try out
