Can you still watch tv with your cable box and tv with the xbox turned off? Does the Hdmi signal pass thru the xbox

ive tried it and it doesn't work. The xbox need to be on, but is there a way to change settings to allow this. Would be very nice for my wife and kids who don't want to relearn everything. Just want to turn on tv and use cable as normal. Instead of waiting
for xbox then navigating to tv, etc. the kinect does NOT work for my kids voices.

    :)

    24p passthru

If I connect a 24fps or 25fps source (like a true 1080/24p output or 1080/50p from a bluray player) to the HDMI input of the XBOX, it doenst pass this thru, it only outputs at 60fps

Is this correct or am I missing something? why do I suddenly want to start watching juddery upconverted blurays rather than the original?

Issues Connecting PC through HDMI-In on XBox One

The issue seams to be that the xbox is disconnecting its own hdmi input when connecting a laptop. It displays laptop screen a few seconds then says it lost signal. but just prior to the supposed signal loss I hear the hardware disconnected chime. (Windows
8.1 to Xbox One via Hdmi Pass thru)

Does the HDMI input/output pass thru when xbox is off?

Pass through needs the xbox powered on fully.

Cable Box and Xbox One Guide Question

As of now, the Xbox One has to be powered on for the video from the HDMI input to be visible. In a powered off state (even when configured for Instant-on) the video from the HDMI input is not passed through to the output.

HDMI Splitter with cable box and surround sound receiver

    From Support:

Basic setup with an audio/video receiver

With an audio/video (A/V) receiver, the best and most direct option is to connect the devices sequentially:

1.Connect your set-top box HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input.

2.Connect the Xbox One HDMI output to your A/V HDMI input.

3.Connect your A/V HDMI output to the HDMI input on your television.

    Notes

•This option requires that all devices support audio over HDMI.

•Surround sound from your set-top box will not be passed through the Xbox One.

•When you perform this kind of basic setup with an A/V receiver, you’re passing both audio and video through another device. Depending on your equipment, there is a small risk of audio or video lag.

    Xbox wont connet to tv

Has it ever connected to the TV before?

Have you checked the input on the tv to make sure the input is correct?

There are two different HDMI ports in the back of the Xbox One is an input that is a pass through that you can put another HDMI like cable box or something in and play it through your Xbox and the other is the output for the Xbox you want to make sure that
the HDMI is coming out of the output to TV on the Xbox itself.

Cable TV stops working after a few seconds when passing though xbox and then A/V receiver.

    Notice the last two bullets:

1.Connect your set-top box HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input.
