  1. Does removing an account from alias remove the emails too?

I have an xbox account that i made with my Mother's email way back. and i want to switch the email. Ive already gone ahead and added the other alias and made it primary. But im wondering if:

    1) After removing my mother's hotmail email from the alias, does the account then become the new alias i put?

    2) Is it the same password as the old login?

    3) Do the emails stay? She has some old emails she wants to keep that i put into a folder in Outlook. Do those remain or do they leave with the deleted account?

    :)

Does removing an account from alias remove the emails too?

    Hello!

Hope you are well. I'll be glad to assist you.

I understand your concerns, and I'd be happy to help you answer them.

    1. Yes, by setting the new alias as your primary email address, it will be the primary email address for your Microsoft/Xbox account.

    2. Yes, your Microsoft account password doesn't change when you change your alias.

    3. Emails already in your account's inbox (including folders) are generally retained, as aliases share the same inbox. However, the email address of the alias you remove from your Microsoft domain (@hotmail, @outlook, etc.) will be permanently deleted and will no longer be able to receive new emails.

I hope the information has been clear, I will be attentive to any questions you may have.

    Best Regards.

    Account Alias Question

    Hello wolfeboy1,

Thanks for posting on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are interested in learning more about keeping an alias after removing it as the primary alias, and you would like to make your Gmail account the primary alias. The email address will remain
on the account as a secondary alias after you remove it from the primary alias slot. Once you

    change the primary alias
on the Gmail account, you will still see your old email address on the list. If the old email address is a Microsoft email address like @outlook or @live and it's removed, the email address will be deleted permanently and cannot
be reclaimed after it is removed. You can assign a third-party email address to another Microsoft account.

In order for you to use your Gmail account as the primary alias of another Microsoft account, you need to remove it from the account when it is a secondary alias. This means removing it as the primary alias from the Microsoft account that has it. The
article we provided explains more about completing the process, and what's involved with it. We hope this information helps wolfeboy1!

    Deleting a Microsoft account

I haven't done this myself, but a MS account does use alias (emails) and you can link more alias to any account, go to https://account.microsoft.com/profile/ to manage you accoount alias, you can specify a main alias for an account there, but I'm not sure
if you have to remove the email address from the old account in order to do so.

Changed alias to a new email address

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello BeguilingRex019, usually in cases like these, after creating Alias you do not need to delete it, just swipe to secondary and choose the new account as primary login.

In the image below, if you click the Sign-in preferences option, you can choose the email you are signed in to.

Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com

    Alias Information

    * Are you sure about that? If you remove an alias that is an email address from a Microsoft domain (such as @hotmail.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or @msn.com), you are permanently deleting the alias and cannot be associated with any Microsoft account again.

    * If you are removing a primary alias, you will need to choose another primary alias before it is removed.

+ If you remove an email address from a non-Microsoft domain (such as @gmail.com), then it is generally immediately available to be added as a pseudonym to another Microsoft account.

    * If you want to remove a connected email account, see Remove a connected account from the Outlook.com.

Remove an existing alias on your Microsoft account

Warning When removing an email alias that’s a Microsoft domain (such as @Outlook.com, @Live.com, or @Hotmail.com), that email is completely deleted from our systems and can no longer be used to send or receive
emails. It won’t be available for use again as an alias on another account. Microsoft does not recycle email addresses, so it may not be reclaimed at a future time.

    1. Sign in to your account using your existing alias and password.
    2. Go to Your info at the top of the page.
    3. Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
    4. Select the alias that you want to remove.
      • If it’s a primary alias, you’ll need to select a new primary before you can remove the old one. To do so, select one of the other aliases on the account and select
        Make primary.
      • You’ll use this new primary alias to send and receive emails, access your email accounts, and appear on devices
    5. To remove the email address or phone number you no longer want, select
Remove next to it and then follow the instructions provided.
