Does original Xbox games are region-locked on X360?

Hello, proud Xbox fans!

I got few question in which I can't find clear answers. So, a few back I got CoD Finest Hour and GTA SA (both are from US region and my X360 E\GO comes from EU, bought in Germany). Tried playing SA and it gives me an error ( because of different regions and
blah blah blah), when without hope I launched CoD and I was amazed - it worked. So question is: how to know which original Xbox game from other region (NTSC presumably) will work on my X360 EU? Maybe there is some kinda list to look at?

original games are region locked especially that game it was region locked due tot he many BANs currently inplace in many countries

you can only test with an xbox region locked game

does your physical location match your account region?

if not that will be your issue

Halo 2 xbox original help

Hey there, I believe they are all region locked as that was the case with all games back then. I doubt Halo 2 was an exception to that rule, so yes, they are all region locked.

Halo 2 will work on the Xbox 360, but again, I believe the disc would need to be the same region as the console so PAL or NTSC.

The following link shows the regions. Just make sure that any game you buy was originally purchased in the EU and you will be fine. Don`t buy imports from Australia,USA, Canada etc,

First some original Xbox games were region locked by country not by continent

First region lock errors only show when purchasing. It redownloading

Region locks can however prevent downloads outside the original region by canceling anytime

It depends on the games. Some games are region locked so they can only be downloaded if your account region matches the same region they were originally downloaded in. When you migrate your account region it does warn you of this.

The region locks technically aren't even NTSC/PAL locks because such a differential does not exist within the console. The games are just coded with a region lock. When a region locked game is loaded on a console from another region, it will display an
error message. If a game is region free, it does not look for what region the console comes from and continues to run. The region lock outs for Xbox 360 games these days are down to the publishers, nothing more.

Xbox One on the other hand has no regional lock outs at all for disc games. You can play any Xbox One game on any Xbox One console. There are certain region locks for downloads, but that has nothing to do with NTSC and PAL.
