Does one Xbox Live subscription apply to all profiles?

My friend has Xbox Live. I added my profile to his system so I can play at his house. I don't have a subscription to Xbox Live. I bought Battlefront and was surprised that I can play multiplayer while logged into my profile. Does his Xbox Live subscription
apply to my profile while it's on his system? I verified that I don't have an active Xbox Live subscription.

Xbox Live will work the same across the 360 and Xbox One. Your subscription will remain in tact, carry over, and apply to both consoles.

Gold can be shared on the One. So you would have access to his gold subscription while you are using his Home conosle.

Hi there,

If you purchased the subscription on the Microsoft Store on the Xbox or online the subscription applies directly and does not require a code. There is an option to purchase it in a digital code format but that is not the default option. The subscription
is on the account more than likely but did not properly apply on the console.

Go ahead and do a
hard reset and power cycle. Hold down the power button on the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then remove the power cable from the Xbox and the power outlet for about 2-3 minutes. Then re-connect and
turn on the Xbox. Check to make sure the Xbox Live Gold features are available.

If that doesn't help then you may need to re-add the profile to the Xbox:

You have one gold subscription for your profile which covers both platforms. Once applied, it will work on both Xbox One and Xbox 360.

It is still his same profile, just with a new live account, since he didn't have one before. Does that still apply?
