Does not having xblive have a negative effect?

I was told forza uses cloud to enhance the game in some way and you need live to keep the game updated with drivatars etc.

Live Gold is only needed to play games online with other people.

Everything else works with out Live Gold.

Yes, this is true. If you don't connect to Live, it won't have updated Drivatar information. I'm not sure what information it uses if you don't connect to Live, but if you don't connect then, for example, you won't be playing against my current Drivatar,
or anyone else's. You don't need Gold for this, however.

This is false information.

Drivatar do get updated with out live gold. Your drivatar will also make you money when you are not playing and no live gold is needed.

You can also add friends to your list and it will use their drivatars during single player races.

Read what IceMan actually wrote. If you don't connect to Live (meaning AT ALL, not just if you don't have a Gold account), what he wrote, to the best of my knowledge, is absolutely true.

I read it several times, and the info is incorrect, because i have no Live Gold or Silver. My Drivatar gets updated, as well as it earns me money when i dont play.

My game stats with the rest of the world gets updated.

Game gets updated.

Xbox and controller gets updated.

I can download other peoples Tunes for cars and paint jobs.

And i have no Live Gold.

Live gold is only for playing the game Online with other people, aka; Multiplayer.

 

^^^So you're telling me that you don't have Xbox Live *at all*, no gold, no silver? (In which case are we to assume that your GT here is solely so you can post in the forums?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but if you don't physically have any sort of an ethernet connection for your Xbox (and without Live, gold or silver, why would you need one?)...how exactly is it that you're able to download game updates, drivatar information,
etc.? Pony Express? Carrier pigeon?

 

Its part of the game and entire system design. Just like i got a 14 gig update during the initial game installation.

Console critical updates, controller updates, etc etc. No live gold.

How did you get a day one update as soon as you plugged in your xbox? Pony express??

 

p.s.

Your game tag is attached to your email address that you used to initially log in with on to xb1. The name tags stays with you as you log in to other xb1s. Through internet. But no Live Gold is required.

 

There are two separate things that dont relate to each other and i think thats where the confusion lies.

There is no XBLive, the terminology is incorrect and confusing.

There are how ever;

1. Xbox Live Gold/Silver paid memberships.

2.Microsoft Live email account, not related to Xbox division, but is used together with Xbox.

You do need to have a Microsoft Email Account in order to get Drivatar updates and cloud game saves, plus internet access. I dont think you can even use the xbox with out MS Email account or Internet. The Xbox One has to be updated with day one update during
initial set up through internet.

As far as Xbox Live Gold/silver, thats so you can play the game online with other people.
