Does Microsoft's future plans for the Xbox brand sound like a good idea for us gamers?

No matter what MS comes up with, the developers need to also us it, if developers refuse to utilize certain resources (the cloud) in favor of another (old fashioned hardware), what can MS do?

    :)

  2. Does Hardcore Infected sounds like a good idea?

I was thinking about it, and it makes the game more bone chilling and challenging.

without a map to look at. you can't tell whos infected during the start of the match unless you are really quick. its makes it a bit tricky for infected players to throw the knifes at you. and makes the players have the advantage. the advantage for
the infected players are the stealth. So yea. I wanted to give Activision this "Feedback" for MW3 but the phones are always full with callers from BO II.

Awful idea. It would literally be nothing but slaughter and simply is not a good idea.

I ment old fashioned in terms of the idea not the actual hardware being old, just to clarify.

It's bad enough that the XBox has surpassed the PS 4's processing power with the exponential boost when using Azure Servers for games like "Crackdown".

Now Microsoft is qualifying it's promises that the XBox ONE is "Futureproof".

Expect to see many disgruntled Sony Surfers trying to tell us it can't be real and probably getting paid for it.

So after over 2 years, there's finally a single game that takes advantage of the cloud? Awesome! Maybe we'll get another one after another two years...

    Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Look, we don't discuss "Forza" for a number of reasons.

Not only the servers but there's the old 1080p 60fps thing as well so we just try to pretend it doesn't exist.

Let's try and stop acknowledging the XBox's successes and try and concentrate on it's failures ok?

  9. seems like Microsoft want to throw a wrench in game development.

creating multiple SKUs to dev for with no added sales benefit is bad

Publishers will have more work for no added sale, and as xbox loyals buy more hardware that's less money buying games.

  10. Having hardware in software can be done, but it leaves the buyer like carpet beggers of old left their customers just after the Civil war.

The promise of a Pig with only a paper bag to show for it. Hense the old saying. 'pig in a poke.'

So how does that translate to the. 'Azure servers.'?

Server, or net goes down what are you left with? A pig in a poke right?

Thus exceptional hardware in a consumers hand, with or without the net. Is the only place in which one can TRUST anything Microsoft or Sony produces.

Produce quality at an affordable price, and you'll not have to worry about playing both ends against the middle in vain attempt to stay out of the red.

  11. Yeah, the future of gaming certainly isn't the Azure Servers. Why the &(^% can't MS and its over dedicated supporters admit is isn't the strongest console? All these theories, all of these stupid assumptions block the realistic future of the XB1. Quality
games is the future unless we want an early grave from MS?

I think they put better hardware into their surface pros, but consoles are meant to be affordable thus that is why they have weaker hardware. Good thing about consoles is they don't get viruses (genuine reports of malware/viruses on genuine Xbox 360, and
Xbox 1 consoles not in the Preview Program, so far, are negligible, but some may make up videos of it on YouTube), consoles are simple and can be a lot of fun. It saves forking out heaps for a high end gaming PC. Even if you Upgrade, when your console falls
faulty, it's probably going to be too expensive to service and get parts for it that you'll be better off getting a new console. But in some ways it's a good idea. What may be an ok or really good GPU today, 2 years later, people would be going meh at it.

But take a look at Xbox 360's example. It has far more active members on it than this gen, Xbox 1. Despite the hardware differences, it's the service and games that still keep lots of people using it. It's like Social Media with Xbox Live Parties, activity
threads, voice messaging, and video chat on your Xbox console and Skype. They also acquired Minecraft and have expertise in PC operating systems. They have potential to create software which pushes the limits on hardware. But if you want better quality which
goes rawr rather than meow, be prepared to pay more for it.

  13. Does Microsoft's future plans for the Xbox brand sound like a good idea for us gamers?

Slightly weaker, Still a good platform to build some awesome games off. It hasn't exactly failed as a console, it doesn't need any more hardware support and certainly not support from the "cloud". The talk needs to be about upcoming titles, the lack of this
    is disturbing.

  14. @azrael nothing they have shown including crackdowns tech demo is exclusive to Ms and can be done by anyone willing to pony up for dedicated servers.

Take titanfall for example, even if we choose to forget that they were turned down by Sony, running ai server side has been done for years and years by pretty much every mmo you have ever seen or played, you connect with a client and everything from mob/player
location hit and damage calcs etc etc are done server side and sent to you the client.

Now I'm not saying crackdown isn't impressive, because it was but its not something that's hard to reproduce, the only difference is its physic's.

The way titanfall does is AI, isn't the same same way 99% of games run it, while there are all done on a server, the titanfall AI (and forza i think), are run on a sperate server dedicated and designed specifically for one element, which is why it is considered
more powerful, why it is referenced as the cloud and no a server. (its not run on the same server or group of servers which runs everything else)

The main issue is the infrastructure that needs to be inplace and the SDK's which are used.

One problem, is you have to get developers to buy into it and use it, otherwise its for nothing.
