Does Microsoft do Account dumps?

I have an old XBL account I'd like to use (or use the name of). I made it when I was in high school & didn't need an email. So I made something real quick to make the account & now do not have the email or password... My questions are:

Has, or does Microsoft delete accounts that have been in-active for an extended period of time, or at least force a name change to allow more gamertags for the public?

Is there a way to get the old account deleted? There's no way it's going to ever be recovered.

Offtopic, does anyone know how to remove the credit card number from a microsoft account, because I want to do that, because I have no plans to buy any digital games, and don't want someone hacking the account and knowing my credit card.

Starting last year, if you don't sign into the account for 5 years, the tag is released. There's no other way of having it released any sooner other than signing in and changing the name to something else.

Does this solve the problem? Is the installation process any different whether you do it through Microsoft Store or the Xbox app? Anwer is No, it works exactly the same way, you only get to choose the Drive and the software dumps everything to the Root Directory.

I don't know how to get any attention here on a legitimate problem short of filing a chargeback. I'm just going to do a screen dump and call this my attempt to resolve the charge before talking to the bank.

i have the same issue , i added 25$ microsoft point card ( new one with currency not msp) and it does not show up and prompts me to add a credit card.. i also cannot see my Rewards from xbox live rewards as i know i just had 5000 points dumped into my account-
what i guess i am asking is how to locate your account funds and do you need a credit card attached to your account to be able to spend these points cards any ways?
