Does mic monitoring work?

Hi

I have had some trittons and now I have TB XP400 both of which allow you to hear yourself through a mic so you can monitor how load I am talking. But on both these headsets i put the volumn I hear my mic at full, and when I move the headset volume it doesn't
adjust so I simple can't hear myself and therefore talk loader.

The headset volume has to be at a certain level so I can hear all the game sound effects, like the noise the chests make in Destiny, and footsteps for people in FPS's, so are these headsets just rubbish, or am I missing something?

Stereo Headset for Xbox One

Does the Microsoft Headset allow mic monitoring? I bought the TB XO7s and there is no mic monitoring. It drives me crazy not being able to hear myself speak.

 

The newer controller

From what ive read the newer controller with the 3.5 headphone jack includes mic monitoring ( not the adapter the controller itself) , so can i use any headset, and get mic monitoring? Or does the headset need certain hardware.

 

Worked absolutely brilliantly on the 360 with all Turtle Beach headsets I used, cant comment on the One as I dont use them because my current set are wireless. But I will add with the headsets on the 360 the mic balancing was done automatically you didnt
have to adjust anything yourself or balance anything yourself. Do you have to adjust through the headset adapter if so that may be the issue?

 

I never got it to work on the 360.

Let me explain, I turn on the xbox and it has no sound, I can hear my self although not overly loudly, then I play a game and I defiantly can't hear myself. There is a my mic volume adjuster on my headset but even at max i really have to listen for it to
hear me with no sound.

I though it worked like I turn my mic up so loud if I talk I can hear myself and I would know not to talk so loud to not hear me, am i missing something?

 

yeh it has worked on botht the turtle beach headsets i have had. TBF tho i dont have the sound so load that i would have to shout anyway.

It sounds as though the game sound is drowning out your own voice, whats it like with minimal game sound?

 

I still can't hear myself with minimal game sound, but my misses can hear me upstairs. (this is using the chat adapter)

 

aha the adaptor!!!!

trey pressing the chat button as this raises the chat sound and lowers the game sound. This is assuming you cannot hear other people in parties etc?

 

oh I can hear other people, I just can't hear myself enough for me to monitor my volume which annoys my other half.

 

Ahhh in that case im as stumped as you are dude. That sucks as like i said i have had no problems with both my turtlebeach headsets.

 

You definately should be hearing your voice fed back through the headset. But as i say I only have chat experience with several pairs on the 360. I only use my current set when I'm not in party on the One. Hope you find a solution.

It sure does! I have the Turtlebeach X42 which I use on Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. When me and a group of friends in an Xbox Live Party talk too loud sometimes, I can hear myself in the headset if I'm talking too loud. I can even hear myself breathing if I have
the mic too close to my mouth or nose lol. I only put it up that close if someone uses an Xbox 360 Kinect or just for jokes. It's funny sometimes when you hear others breathing too heavily in their mic. It's not that we have asthma or finished running a marathon,
the mic is just too close to your mouth/nose or some 5 year old is breathing heavily. I can get pretty immature too and it's kind of like big brother that mic monitoring. I actually don't mind the mic monitoring I'm happy it's there.

 

Thanks will try and pay about with it a bit more to see if I can get it working better, and also contact TB incase I am doing something wrong.
