Does Latency have a bad effect if playing from a different region?

I have a 100 mbps internet package and my Xbox one is wired.

Here in Malaysia we do not have xbox live servers so the closet region we join to is Singapore

My Latency is always 177 .. is it because of the different region? I see lag in other players for example when I m playing GTA 5 I can see other players lagging on freemode but I can see them very rarely lagging in a mission

Also my Download & Upload speed are the same between 90 to 99 mbps, is that a good thing?

please help because I m planning to change my package to 300 Mbps, D-Link, will that help the latency?

Fifa 13 lag with open NAT

NAT Setting have no effect on Latency. NAT Settings are only Methods of which a Router or Private Network decides Protocol and to which Device. In short, it will effect the ability to find Players with Strict or Moderate NAT Settings
(if yours is the same) and/ or Party Chat/ Private Chat/ Messages.

Latency/ "lag" comes from low Bandwidth and/ or Ping Rates along with a myriad of other Sources (distance to Connection, Packet Loss and so forth).

 

It depends where you live and who is the host. latency is always going to be an issue, because our planet is SO HUGE. you can be playing with people less than 50km from you or others on the other side of the world. And 21st century technology isnt perfect.
But your download and upload speeds are fine.

Xbox 1 also utlizes over 300,000 servers placed all over the globe. xbox 360 utilizes only 15,000 microsoft servers worldwide which is why people tend to lag a lot more on xbox 360 minecraft multiplayer compared with minecraft xbox 1 multiplayer where online
experience is much more butter smooth. if you live in a city youre fine. but if you live in a small town or rural area, away from the hussle and bussle of civilization, it will add to your latency.
