Does downloading a game digitally install post-release updates?

I was downloading the new Destiny 2 update (~34 GB) and it bugged out and corrupted my game file, causing me to need to reinstall. I was wondering if I would need to download that update again after the game file reinstalls (68.62 GB).

I am downloading it digitally, not off of a disk.

    :)

    XboxONE Setup? Pre-Installed Games?

Answer: Because it is a Madden bundle, that releases on the same day the game does.

I would feel a little offended if I bought a bundle with a game that has not came out yet. lol. I get a preorder.

    Digitally downloading games

Yeah, that is straying a bit off topic. Does downloading a game digitally install post-release updates? :p

Is there a code in the game box at all? Then you would just have to redeem it from the Xbox One console, and you should be eligible for a £10/$10 upgrade to the One version. It really depends on the specifics on the offer.

If this does not work, go ahead and make your own thread and we can work through it together, rather than hijack this thread. Does downloading a game digitally install post-release updates? :)

When you download from the marketplace you should be downloading the latest title version including all updates

Watch Dogs 2 uninstall and reinstall

    Hey there!

If you own the digital version, any updates that have already been released will download with the game in one go (you will notice that the entire game may be a bit bigger in size due to this). If you uninstall the game, you will need to install the entire
    game download back on.

If you own the disc version, you may be prompted to install updates while installing the game off of the disc.

Hope this helps clear up the question!

GUNNER 26: Are your games on disc or are they digital downloads?

If your games are on disc the xbox will download the patch in standby mode, but wont install the update untill you put the disc in and load the game. This is normal.

If your games are digital it will (should) download AND install the update whilst in standby.

Preload feature for people that order physical copies

    Hello Spam,

A lot of the time there are updates to the game even pre-installing it digital. I have had to reinstall the game on day of release due to updates they do to the game etc. For example fallout 76 has re-installed 4 times since the beta release. So its probably
more along them reasons why it isn't available for physical copies. But if you like please do what XBF Chris suggested and post on ideas page.

    Thanks,

    Brad
I have posted on the ideas page. Thank you for the suggestion.

Now, like you said, sometimes you have to download updates ahead of release. What is the point of offering the preload for digital copies at that point? You still have the same data loaded onto the hard drive wheather it's physical or digital. So why not
offer it for physical? Then all you have to do is pop in the game disk and go. Also, even if there are updates the system should automatically download any available just like any other game on the system so you aren't surprised with a massive patch or redownload
when you're expecting to play or that it has at least started the download so it's already partially complete when you go to play.

I too have also had entire games redownload months after release. The thing was they did it automatically just like if it was a regular update so I wasn't surprised when I went to play it.
