Does "Destiny" Reward Skill Or Time?

OK, let's kill the peer pressure vibe going on and get back to the lovely discussion of Destiny.

 

What was the topic again? Oh yeah. Destiny rewards neither. It's all luck imo. Skill? Hell nah. Negative people get the rewards at the end of crucible while the 3.0 guys get squat. Time? A little but even then you grind a lot for so little. I've noticed
it to be more luck. My gf is a uber pro MLG player but she doesn't get much so she'll complain (cuz she mad bro) while me I'm just MLG but not as uber pro and been lucky to get legendaries for all classes. I'm pretty much done with the game tbh. Just need
to grind for a lot of materials especially the ascendant crap. I miss getting those from the queen missions. They're worthless now. I only do the bounties to rank up my characters mad quick. I would take advantage of her bounties now for new characters before
she's gone on the 8th.

 

^^^ Definitely luck... I guess you could argue time as well because the more time you put in, the more chances you'll have to get a lucky drop. As Defy Lightning stated, even the crappiest players in PVP (such as me) can get the loot prizes at the end of
the round.

It's a neat system in that the top elite guys don't keep pulverizing the poor peons at the bottom of the totem pole with no chance of advancement but it sure as heck removes any reward for trying to cap flags, hold positions or blast enemies to bits. I'm
guilty of just grinding through some pvp matches to get the bounty of complete X number of matches.

The single PVE missions I have not even completed yet. I must confess that after a few days of it I was rather bored and just went to PVP. Now that is getting a little stale too but thankfully now MORDOR is out!

Destiny rewards gamers who love playing the game for the fun of playing the game. It doesn't care how skilled you are... it doesn't care how much or how little you play it. If you have fun just playing and enjoy the game and don't obsess over whether or
not you're being 'properly rewarded' for your skills or time spent playing, then you'll find it very rewarding. I know I do.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that... there have been nights I've played and spent the entire evening playing and got almost nothing of value [loot-wise] for my effort. There
have actually been more than a few nights I've played and gotten 'decent loot'... but certainly nothing better than what I already had. But, I still had a lot of fun playing. Apparently, hours of fun just playing the game was a pretty nice reward for having
no luck...

 

after playing for a couple of weeks, luck.

over the past week or so, i've been grinding... and grinding... and grinding... just to get some decent gear to run the raid, i'm just a hair over 26 currently, and MOST of the legendary engrams i get are blue items, a few strange coins, or gear for a different
class, i've only gotten 2 actual legendary pieces of equipment, a auto-rifle and helmet, and the helmet is completely useless because just before i got it, i used my strange coins to buy an exotic helmet(hindsight, 3 legendary items, a chest piece from one
of the Queens bounties). i'm already so tired of repeating the same bounties, the same missions and the same strikes with little to no reward that yes, shooting blindly into a cave was a better way of getting gear.

i really hope Bungies balances this out soon, or they better hurry with the DLC.

Sure that's luck... but it's just bad luck

I commend you, however, on your 'cup half full' attitude. It's nice to see and hopefully carries on beyond the reach of your keyboard.

I've now play this for 117hrs (hehe) and I think I can safely say that although there is definitely the luck element there, my time has been heavily rewarded.

I'm only a few upgrades away from having all my weapons and armour done for my hunter and I have numerous exotic and legendary weapons and armour in my storage, so much so that I won't have to grind any of the other classes for gear.

I think to say it doesn't reward skill at all is a bit silly, sure 99% of the game doesn't reward skill, but the nightfall strike and from what I've heard the raid as well, they take a certain amount of skill to complete.

 

To complete yes, to reward no...

 

But you get the reward from completing, therefore you spent time and skill to complete and get rewarded, no?

This is just like the Chicken and the egg, we all have our own opinions based on what we've experienced and it's obviously a different experience across the board. I'm not commenting on the whole time/skill/luck thing again. My opinion is above and I'm sticking
to that. Done.

 

Hit Vanguard Level 3 on the road to saving up to buy a Legendary Assault Rifle and the game rewarded me for hitting Vanguard Level 3 by gifting me with the very Legendary Assault Rifle I was saving up for.

I don't play Strike Missions at all, but I did try 2 of them (Strike Missions) and it was " okay ". The people that I was playing with were cool, but multiplayer just isn't me. I will not play another Strike Mission again.
