    Does deleting your Xbox account open up the gamertag?


    If you permanently delete your Xbox account, including xbox live and the Xbox one account, does that open up the gamertag?

    i.e. If i delete an XBL account with the gamertag PianoPlayer123, will that gamertag be able to be used for someone else's account?

    No. Delete your account from your Xbox then login again. This should force it to re sync if it doesn't work contact support

    I had the same problem, you need to delete the account of your xbox after that u can add the account back.
    Maybe that will also work for you.

    No. There is no way to completely delete and Xbox account. To free up the gamertag, you would have to change it to something else or not sign in for 5 years.

    as smuwtches mentioned it won't work it just makes it harder to recover

    If you are deleting it to try and free up your banned accounts name no that won't work and the name is forever suspended

    There's no way for you to completely remove a gamertag from the system yourself. Removing it from a Microsoft account or deleting the Microsoft account, does not delete the Xbox account. If the gamertag was freed up in one of the previous mass gamertag releases
    or the person who owns the account doesn't sign in for 5 years (starting 2016) the tag will be freed up for use.

    try this one, sign in to LIVE.COM with your email link to your to your gamertag and once your sign in do not close the window open a new tab on your computer and open XBOX.COM after that you will be promted to accept the terms of use if not automatically
    sign in to XBOX.COM click sign in accept the terms of use go back to your xbox console and recover your gamertag without deleting your account i mean do not delete your account just sign out and recover gamertag ....hope this helps....
