Does appearing offline affect p2p connectivity?

Hi everyone,

First off I know this is a stupid question. I'm not the one asking it technically, and I already know the answer is no. However, my friend is a mental midget and seems to be under the impression that the reason me and him have issues connecting to and hearing/speaking
to each other in a party is due to the fact that I appear offline a lot and not his substandard internet connection. I know he's wrong, but I would love it if somebody could give me a technical explanation of why my friend is an idiot for 2 reasons: 1) It'll
stop him from constantly whining about me appearing offline, and 2) I can show him this thread and he can see how many other people think he's a clown.

My Community feed doesn't update properly.

Is there a chance you're appearing offline? If you're appearing offline your activity does not appear in the feed.

Check to make sure your status is not set to Appearing Offline. This prevents Twitch broadcasting and may affect recording of clips as well.

Appearing offline does not impact your ability to play and use the communication capabilities of Live. It simply prevents other users from knowing that you are online so they won't be harassing you when you don't want them to.

You and your friend should check your NAT's , you still should be able to chat even with his "less than ideal" internet...unless it dial up or something ...

he is on about the octosniff tool that is advertised on the xresolver site, it basically shows all ip addresses when you are in a p2p game or an xbox live party, then morons use it to ddos people offline for kicks. the problem is that Microsoft cannot see
this happening on the network as it does not connect to live as it intercepts the traffic.

Reset router and Xbox. Can receive invites and have sent invites. I'm just interested in whether appearing offline or online has any affect on Xbox party invites.

We need a response but it’s ridiculous how my friend and I go back and forth about how he’s the reason for not letting me be able to invite him because he appears offline. Something’s gotta be fix cuz that basic solution obviously you gave didn’t help. I should be able to to freely and easily invite anyone who appears offline or whatever because we our spending too much money for a service that doesn’t even provide.
