Does anyone know what is going on with or also having a problem the Xbox One mic?

My little nephew's Xbox one headset mic is not working. I think it stopped working about a couple weeks ago. The sound works fine on the headset, you can watch videos and hear sound and hear other people in the party, but the mic will not work. First thought
it was just the mic on the headset went bad, so he went and purchased a new chat headset and it is still doing the same thing. You can hear others and sound, but mic does not work. I tested both headsets on 2 different computers using an online mic test and
both mics work on there, so it seems to be an issue just with the Xbox.

I have watched many YouTube videos and have tried everything they suggested including resetting the console twice. I've tried both headsets on 2 different controllers and the mic still won't work. Thought about purchasing a new controller but don't really
like the idea of spending $40-60 on a new controller that still may not fix the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try, or is anyone else having this same problem. I'm starting to think it is either an issue with the console or it may of
had something to do with this latest update released and if that's the problem Xbox needs to fix it.

connecting to xbox live

is xbox having trouble or something i cant connect to xbox live dose any body know whats going on ?????? am i the only one with this problem?

 

A game that I usually play, is now coming up saying;The person who bought this needs to sign in.

For starters, don't waste any more of your money on new accessories. What is most despicable about this issue is Microsoft's propensity to capitalize on it as most of us assume it's a controller / microphone issue and buy new ones. I'd first recommend having
your nephew try both his microphones at a friend's house if it's an option. If they work on a different console it's definitely not the microphone. If you want to be diligent and you have a friend's help I'd also try syncing up that friend's controller to
your nephew's Xbox that you confirmed the microphone was working on. If it still doesn't work then you can rule out a controller / microphone issue 100%

Other than that MS support would recommend you check your network setting, make sure you have an open nat, and recommend that you hard wire your console, but I've never heard of these things actually helping anyone from this issue. Once they have aggravated
you by giving you a run around on all your settings they will offer to replace your console. But I've already seen multiple people on these boards claim that the problem persists after that. At the end of the day MS either doesn't know how to fix this issue
or doesn't care enough about quality to fix it. Look around the boards, you'll see a plethora of people with this issue and none of them are resolved

 

Go to the settings then go to kinect and devices, then go to devices and accessories to make sure your controller is up to date, if an update is available plug your controller into the Xbox and start the update. Also in the device settings go to volume and
turn up mic monitoring. I hope this helps fix your issue and I will check back and give further information if I can. Have a great day

 

Yes, I already tried all of that, the controllers are up to date and tried adjusting the volume settings for the mic. The Nat is open, I tried resetting the console twice. Nothing worked, I watched about 10 different YouTube videos and looked at different
things suggested on various forums and tried all of the things they suggested and I couldn't get it to work. It's not the mics as they both work on 2 different computers as I tested them using an online mic test. So it's either an issue with the controllers
or an issue with the console itself.

 

Sorry to hear that, sounds like you ran the gambit. It seems like the only thing left to try is either a different controller or a different headset. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help

 

Thanks for trying to help anyways, I appreciate it. I'll keep tinkering away at it when I have the time, maybe some day I'll be able to fix it or hopefully a Xbox update will fix it.

 

I had the exact same problem with my headset i had to replace it 4 times they are just really bad quality if you want something that lasts look elswhere.

 

I have had a similar issue since the April update came out, I have two wired headsets and a wireless Turtle Beach headset and the all have the same issue, no mic and i cant hear anyone in the party unless i change the party output to my TV, but they still
cant hear me. I have tested all three of my headsets on my wife's xbox and they work perfectly fine. If i hard reset my xbox (clear cache) they will work for about 2 hours and then stop again. Both my controllers are up to date and i have re-synced them with
my XBox and that has had not worked either.
