Does anyone else feel like microsoft is giving us the shaft?

Alright I've been an X-Box person since the first time I played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and have defended X-Box in conversations with my Play station friend's. But recently I've noticed that X-Box doesn't think as kindly about the gamers.
The X-Box Rewards program was awesome when it came out, there were so many different ways to earn Credits just for playing games or earning achievements, plus some credits on your birthday just because they care. now the rewards program only earns you points
for spending large amounts of money, mostly on non-game related things and my birthday gift this year.....disappointment! For my years of being a loyal member they sent me a picture of a cake to print and cut out. It seems X-Box isn't very gamer friendly anymore.

so your complaining about xbox rewards really who cares so tired of kids complaining already if your unhappy with xbox get a playstation or pc

 

Well, I can only speak for myself, but just over the pasts 3 months I have received a 3000-credit deposit in my Xbox Live Rewards account for my 12-month Gold membership anniversary (I always buy XBL Gold cards when they're on sale and stack them, but I
still get the reward). I earned an additional 2000 XBL Rewards credits last month via a punch card by trying out a few new apps. Zero cost to me. Every month I get another 250 credits for the survey, plus a rebate on anything that I do buy in the Game Store.
This week, I took my Rewards credits and treated myself to what is essentially a free game of my choosing on the Ultimate Game Sale.

The birthday cake? Yeah, I will agree with you, that was a pretty silly idea. But you know what to do with it? If you're a parent, you print that cake out, give it to your kid and tell them daddy would like you to build his birthday cake. Then while
they are occupied with arts and crafts, you go hop on the Xbox and get in a couple games of Gotham City Impostors. Win-win! It's just an example with a little humor, but sometimes you parlay your own reward from nothing into something. I'm really not missing
my 20 birthday MSP reward all that much.

Sevan, I think what caused my jaw to drop and to even reply is that, as I type, every one of the games in your "recently played" list has been provided to gamers over the past year by MS at no additional cost to Gold subscribers or are free to play!

I guess we have different ways of looking at it, but to answer your question, no, I don't feel I'm getting shafted. Every one of my hobbies costs something to participate, and aside from recreation and enjoyment, the only two I can think of that provide
any kickback-type reward are gaming and maybe travel (frequent flyer/hotel rewards).

 

I'm pleased to get anything back, no matter how big or small.

 

Achievements, credits, ads, apps, freebies, birthday crap...none of it matters to me. I'm probably one of the few that would like all that frill to go away as it distracts me from my real purpose for turning on my xbox, which is to simply play a game.

 

You're doing Rewards wrong. You're at the 2% rebate point (Same as me! YAY!). I've gotten 2000 points just from buying random sale crap since January. Not counting the surveys. Here's the kicker. Since January, I've spent out of my own pocket, maybe $20
(US$). Go to Bing. Sign up for Bing Rewards. Search daily. At least once a month (you can have up to 3 accounts at each address, ask mom/dad to help!) you should be able to cash in on Bing Rewards for a $5 Amazon or XBOX gift card. Silly thing is, once that
money's on your MS account, Xbox Rewards sees that as making a purchase when you get around to spending it. Bing gives you free money for spamming searches, then Rewards rewards you for spending your free money.

The cake is a lie though. I want my bonus quarter back.

 

Getting back anything is good enough for me. I have 5000 points coming my way, ($5 correct?) Which will be deposited into my account on the 31st. I will gladly take whatever I can get.

 

Nope I don't feel shafted at all. I don't expect handouts or freebies. Gotta admit I am liking the games discounts as of late

 

Such a nice cake though...
