Does a membership purchase VIA giftcard override credit card purchase?

before your renewal date, MS will accept that at time of renewal over a credit card on file with your account and the credit card will not be charged.

To be clear, there are two kinds of Xbox cards: Xbox Gold and then standard Xbox gift cards. For a card to be used toward your Gold membership, the card must say
Xbox Live Gold (they come in 3, 6, and 12 month amounts). A standard Xbox gift card which is used for the purchase of games or content will not be accepted/used toward an XBL Gold membership renewal.

I'm a little confused when you say that your membership recently renewed but the charge isn't until next week. MS typically charges on the exact date of renewal. If there was no Xbox Gold card applied to your account on the date of renewal, it is possible
that the credit card has been charged on the date of your renewal and the charge just has not yet shown up on the credit card statement.

1. You are correct that you should never display any of your account/personal information.

2. This is what I understand from your post. If you applied an Xbox Gold subscription card on the 6th, and your account renewal/"expires on" date is on the 18th, then the credit card would not be charged. At least that's how it has worked
for me.

You can verify by clicking on your gamertag name in the upper right corner of this web page, then "Microsoft Account" and then click the "Services & Subscriptions" tab, you will see a date that your Xbox Live subscription expires on. If the date is something
beyond February 18, 2016, then your Xbox Live Gold subscription card has taken effect and the credit card should not be charged at that time.

@leo invictus, like i would show you the page i saw, but that would against the rules since i be exposing cofendential information, But what i mean is, the renewal was on the 6th but the charge on the 18th from what MS Xbox told me when i clicked on manage
membership. i hope that cleared up the air a little and didn't confuse you a little more

You can also purchase Xbox Live Gold Membership cards at various outlets, if you don't wish to pay online via credit card or Paypal.

All purchases are nonrefundable and YOU are responsible for your account once you put your credit card on file. That's the bottom line so Support cannot refund accidental purchases or purchases your son bought even if he wasn't disabled.

My first question is, is your credit card tied to your membership? If you try to remove the card does it tell you that your payment method is linked with your membership or paid service? If so, you'll want to either:

A) Call Xbox Support one more time to have them remove your card for you so that you don't have to cancel your membership.

B) Add a new credit card to the account (a prepaid card so that you control how much money is available on it) or a PayPal with no card attached to it as a placeholder. Then remove your credit card.

If your cards not tied to your membership, just remove it and the purchases will stop.
