Dodgy power supply

Anyone experience a faint clicking fan in thepower brick ?

Had mine for 5 months barely used but plugged in standby for at least 3 of those months.

A bit of a worry for a system Craig Flannagan bets 10 years conservatively .

And to help me sleep better the console makes a faint noise when on standby. But it's not working.

Not too worried yet as I've heard worse on youtube, but I'm not game to give it time to get worse.

What should I do ?

Already contacted support who want me to send it to Sydney for repair (from Melbourne) knowing my luck an 'Ace Ventura' fan will deliver my box, tech will poke it with a screwdriver and bang it on the desk and send it back. But with a new power brick
I bet.

And I bet if I get a replacement it may be the same again. Yeah I'm not thinking positive.

Just read on the forum kid tries to replace his noisy Xbone, staff open five boxes and all made the same noise he came in with...

xbox has 3 rings, I have a dodge power supply.

Hi guys,

I have had a 'dodgy' power supply on my xbox the last few years. The xbox is June 2006 and has never given me a problem. I used to position the power brick so the light stayed orange and then green when turned on. Now my xbox has 3 rings.

The error seems to be 002 / 0020. I really really don't think it's the xbox. What do you guys think?

Your best bet is to follow through with what support have already advised you, especially if the product has become faulty. They will receive it, repair it or replace it, and then send it back. The tech team are certified and professional and will ensure
that your issue is remedied to the best of their ability.

Simply for the sake of health and safety, any electrical appliance that appears faulty or broken should be closely monitored if you decide against sending it off for repair, though given that official support has already requested that you send it in to
them, you should really follow through with that.

i would, when it comes to power supplies getting an original, even if its second hand is better than dodgy third party power supplies.

and yes they should work as the starwars edition is basically a slim xbox 360 with a paintjob and a different power on chime.

Well, my £30 replacement arrived today from the European service centre... in a pathetically thin jiffy bag with no additional packaging or protection other than a clear plastic bag.

But, despite the rather lame packaging, it seems to be working fine. And, more importantly, IT DOESN'T BUZZ!

No more irritating (& worryingly dodgy sounding) fan noise! :-D

The console is just sitting on the dash at the moment with the TV muted and no other significant noise in the lounge and I cannot hear it the power supply at all, whereas with the original power supply it was extremely noticeable if the volume of a game/film
was low or if the console was just sitting on the dash. The original one was louder than the console itself and louder than my 360 S power supply.

The fan does seem to be working too, despite the lack of annoying noise, as I can feel cool air in front of the power supply. I had worried it was only quiet as the fan was killed in transit!
