Doby Atmos stopped working

I have an Xbox One X (OS version 10.0.18362.6065), a Denon AVR-S950H Dolby Atmos compatible receiver, along with a Klipsch 7.1 speaker setup in my home.

For the last year and up to this week (August 23, 2019), the Dolby Atmos display would show on the receiver when I was playing any Atmos compatible blu-ray, game, or the Dolby Xbox app. HOWEVER, I went to watch TV earlier this week and noticed that the
Xbox seemed to be frozen. I turned it off, turned it on, and everything seemed to be fine but now I cannot get the Dolby Atmos display on the receiver. The best I can do is "Multi Channel".

I have performed a soft and hard reset on the Xbox One X. I have performed a hard reset on the receiver. I even recalibrated the Atmos speakers from the receiver, and the receiver says everything is fine. I even changed out the HDMI cable with another
6ft high speed brand (Monoprice 4k, 18Gps). Finally, I unplugged everything last night and let the devices and cables sit with no power. Nothing seems to work.

I also have a RIG 800 Dolby Atmos compatible headset, and it seems to work. The Xbox One X will not send Atmos signals to the receiver. The sounds coming from the receiver and speakers are not what they used to be. Its like going from color to black &
white TV.

Is there a fix for this, or am I doing something wrong?

Does doby atmos work with optical though?

Is there a way I can connect hdmi direct into the tv and into the amp so I can get doby atmos? may be hdmi splitter box?

I have narrowed the problem down to the Microsoft Xbox One X.

Today I purchased an Apple 4K TV and plugged it in to the Denon AVR-S950H. When I switched to the Netflix app and started playing "Formula 1 Drive to Survive", the Denon receiver displayed "Atmos", which it should have done.

When I switched to the Netflix app on the Xbox One X and attempted to play the same video, it only displayed "Multi In". Again, I have changed the settings on the Xbox to what is supposedly the correct ones to enable Atmos. The only time I can get
Atmos sounds is when Im playing an Atmos enabled 4k Ultra HD Blu Ray. I played "Fury", and it works. Atmos does NOT work anymore when playing games or using the apps such as Netflix or Prime Video.

I hope that Microsoft engineers are browsing this subreddit, because I have received three (including yours) other comments from people who have experienced the same sort of thing within the last few weeks.

I got exactly the same problem as you guys, I just purchased Denon AVR-S750H. All I can get is Multi-in when playing games or Netflix, the funny thing is Netflix was able to detect that I got ATMOS so I am sure it works but not having the display bothers
me. Playing Ultra Bluray disc works without any issues too with ATMOS displayed on screen.

If was thinking it was Denon issue but it seems to be new update of the xbox one x software.

It will show Atmos briefly which got me excited but it end up going back Multi-in on the display again.

When I click INFO on Denon it shows me the input is PCM.

I bet you and I are not the only ones with this new problem.

Hopefully a fix will be forthcoming shortly.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. We recommend look over the
guide for Dolby atmos and troubleshooting steps. Also recent updates may have changed these settings. Which could cause issues with compatibility.
