Do you use your Kinect to play games on your Xbox One?

I know it's got the warranty because I was about to go through the process and I still might before November, but as of this moment it hasn't stopped me from doing what I want so I just haven't felt the need. I know it sounds stupid, but that's me haha.

Oh and by no means have I not replaced the Kinect because of some kind of hatred I have towards it. Some things were impressive, like shouting Xbox pause from another room because I heard the game start and it actually worked. Going by GG's logic though,
that would be a bad thing as I would get more exercise running back to hit the pause button ;-)

There are plenty of Games on both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One that you can use regular controllers on to control the game.

There are a lot of ways in using the Kinect sensor. You can play your favorite kinect games. Some games are better to use with kinect such as Mass Effect 3 with voice command that really change the gameplay. You can download videoKinect to video chat with

As for the exercise bit, that depends - I assume you're going to have to return to the room anyways if you're not there. Either way, the act of pressing a single button is still negligible.

Doing a little hope does not interest me and neither does pretending to ride a jet ski. I'm excited or interested I guess you could say to see what developers do with the Kinect, so far we have one or two 2/3 Kinect only games
right? If a Kinect game comes out that tickles my fancy I will happily buy, but until then the Kinect will carry on being used for voice commands.

 

Well, not many people have mentioned the Fantasia game lately - I've always been a big fan.

 

No, I personally do not use or plan to use the kinect, it's just not for me, I gave it a go when I got the console, but I do not need it, the children love it, they have one in their play room, I will invest in games for them, but not for me on my console.

I tend to go along this line. I have no issues with people who use the Kinect for exercise games and etc. but it's not for me and yes, I even tried a few games on the OG Kinect.

For me it's a matter of getting the whole, or real, experience when it comes to exercise. If I want to ride a Jet-Ski I want to feel the water and spray... or if I want to ride
a bike I want to actually pedal and end up somewhere other than my L/R for my effort (which will also require a lot more effort than pretending to do that in front of a camera).

In any case, I think the whole 'it's exercise, it's good for you, you should try it approach to encourage a doubter to use their Kinect is fine' but leading it up to "it's your
funeral" is a bit much. If I were to go along that line, I could say (as I alluded to earlier) that very few activities you perform in front of the Kinect are going involve as much effort or yield as much exercise as the actual activity does IRL. Following
that logic, I could say that my riding a real bicycle over hill and valley would mean I could be present at 2 funerals... wait, that's just morbid and besides, then I'd have to go get a bike. >.<

 

Sure it may not be as exciting as leaving the house (or as sociable), but it's far more convenient - which is what a lot of people seem to like nowadays. You don't have to spend money on a gym membership or for the gas to get there. It's a huge time-saver
- that's not lazy, that's smart. As far as saying that you don't get as much out of it exercise-wise, that's a load of baloney IMO. As long as your muscles are getting the exact same kinds of movement and stress to exercise them, it does work. I'm living proof
that it can work if used properly - I lost over 30 lbs. in 3 months exercising for 30 min. on the original Kinect with Your Health and Fitness Evolved twice a week (and eating right, of course - we can't forget that) - and that was on the old one! The new
one really does make a difference with more accurate readings and helping you keep track of your heart-rate.

 

The key you're missing is in 'as much' exercise for the same activity. Nobody's arguing you don't get exercise or it isn't enough to do some good.

'Ride a bicycle' 5 simulated miles in front of your Kinect, 'up and down hills of varying degrees' and etc. then go ride a bicycle IRL and pedal your own weight (hills included), for the same distance and tell me which required more effort and gave you more
exercise. I played a bowling game on my OG Kinect... I went and bowled IRL. Trust me, from personal experience, unless you're actually going to bring a 7lb bowling ball into your gaming room, carry it around and 'throw it down your Kinect alley'... you aren't
going to get the same amount of exercise per game.

Smart isn't really relevant in the context I was using. I was simply saying it doesn't do anything for me. Call me old school.

Never. It's still in the box and in there it will remain.

Kinect sports......i'm interested. If they do it well and has some uniqueness to it, I might pick it up.
