Do you think this is cheating?

So I came across a product on Amazon.com that kind of annoys me. It's something that has been around for as long as competitive multiplayer shooters have existed but I've always considered it a form of cheating. Anyway, I posted a rhetorical question
to the owners of the product in question ("Is it possible to use this and not cheat?") and naturally I got responses basically affirming that using that product is not cheating. Of course, you have to consider the opinions of people that own the device to
be a bit biased. Who's going to say, "Yeah, I'm a cheater." right? Anyway, I created a Straw Poll to try and get an idea of what the majority of people who even care think. Please take a minute to vote for what you think.

I didnt know this was done before.first time ive seen it.

 

Some people do the same thing with a simple sticker on the tv screen.

Not really cheating in the sense that its violating the code of conduct.

 

I think it's cheating, but I'm not sure it's bannable.

What a waste of money. People actually buy that? Wow.

 

I tried a dot on my screen and it was distracting to me. I don't believe it's cheating.

Yeah I remember my nephew telling me he stuck a sticker on the TV to play better. I don't really see a point in it to be honest, so I would never wast money on something like that.

 

I think it depends. Personally I would find that really distracting. I've heard of people using the tape and marker thing but spending $25 for something like this seems silly to me. I guess I would call it an advantage to some more than outright cheating.

 

That is the lamest thing I have ever seen, And anyway, games like cod have been designed to give the less talented the advantage anyway. Aaaawwwww, but we all deserve a chance right? So get some fishing line and blue tac or gum, place the line diagnally
across the screen on all 4 corners, you'll find a cross right in the middle, exactly where you want to aim. Record, youtube, Profit!

 

Doesn't the game have crosshairs? Count me in the how the heck is this even useful, much less cheating group. So surround sound owners are cheaters too? the frik?

 

Wouldn't buy it myself but I don't see how this is cheating, its available for anyone to use it, if anything like previously said, its just an advantage and if you don't want it, don't get it, if someone wants to get it and advantageously use it, that's
their choice and you can't really complain

 

It's almost the same as adjusting FOV on PC shooters, which I also consider cheating. At least if all involved don't share that advantage and are constrained with what amounts to having blinkers on.

Having iron sights in games is a design choice, and having no crosshair when firing from the hip is intentional too. If you're proud of no-scoping a guy who lacks the precision aiming you have, because you've subverted the way the game is intended to be
played, all power to you. lol

Fair play is something decent people have instilled... or it's something people ignore for their own advantage. It's telling that most don't have it. Does football need goal-line technology or honest goal keepers? Constant replays to better aid refs, or
players with integrity that don't dive even if they could potentially win by diving?

Meh. Game with people you know are decent and honest... and avoid the tools. {XD

Simple test, everyone file a report on people who use this product

Any action taken would mean it's cheating.
