    Hum....forgot say.

About games only available on Scorpio (and other "next gen" systems),i got no worries.

At worst,devs/publishers will makes two different versions, like we saw with Battlefield (hardline ? or maybe it was COD) and Forza Horizon 2 .But anyway, with current gen limits,devs/publishers will quickly makes the big jump.

Brandiesel, you can get that "jaw dropping" difference in picture quality with a DVD that has an add for "Blue Ray" in the previews.

I'm sure you get a really good picture but it's a better picture than you need and a lot of the great experience you get from 4K is psychological.

    On top of that...

We haven't even cracked the true potential of the XBox ONE.

"Crackdown 3" is the first game to make use of the Cloud Computing to push the XBox ONE and it's on paper weaker specs... beyond the processing power of the formerly more powerful PS 4.

I know what you mean when you talk about "Scorpio" being "Next Gen".

But it's ultimately like like 4G.

It's not really 4G but people want the current technology that we have to be called 4G that the ITU-R has agreed to cut the requirements and accept that it is.

Like I said above. The XBox Scorpio is an XBox ONE that has been tweaked to perform great on 4K screens.

It's current gen tech being fleshed out a bit to allow you to get the most out of 4K screens.

"Dark Star One" taught us that a game could run at 1080p and still look kind of pants compared to other games running at lower resolutions.

"Ryse: Son Of Rome" taught us that a game could run at less than 1080p and still look better than other games running at higher resolutions.

I see what you mean and as it's a subjective opinion it doesn't really matter what I think.

However when it comes to "generations" you have to have some defining standards and that's where the "Next Gen" thing falls down.

So while I understand what you mean... if we're being honest with ourselves... It's not.

That being said... if you have a 4K TV why wouldn't you get a Scorpio?

If you think Project Scorpio is a next gen console, you'll be mistaken. Hell, the XBox One isn't a next-gen console. Half the time, it can't even run 1080p without choking or chugging.

Project Scorpio is designed for one thing, and one thing only: to suck all your personal info out of your lives so Microsoft can cash in (just as it sells all your app data to 3rd parties) and do so within its "We no longer give a flying *** about user privacy
anymore since we're connecting one account with all your devices. Now just shut up and bow."

Microsoft is following both Apple and Google because it no longer knows how to innovate.

Ballmer drove Microsoft nose first into the ground. Nadella will grind his heals on the corpse.

It's getting so bad, Microsoft is going to charge subscriptions for Windows, soon enough.

Can't wait to see how people backlash at having to pay for both Windows and Live.

That's Project Scorpio. It has nothing to do with specs. It's a console solidly built for one thing: Windows 10.

So far away from next gen it's laughable people are still calling consoles by "generation".

Sorry to be the rain cloud on this parade, but all you have to do is look at the XBox One to see Microsoft no longer cares about you.

Just the data you give them.

  4. Do you think that Project Scorpio is "next gen" or not?

I guess it's really subjective isn't it? I don't think it's 'next gen' because it's just a hardware update whereas when we moved from 360 to X1 it was a whole new operating system/dashboard, hardware, controller & in some respect a change to the ecosystem
    overall.

I can see why people may consider it 'next gen', but I don't think there's enough change to consider it that. I mean if it came with VR and games to go with it, then I would definitely say next gen as it would be a massive change to console gaming as we
    know it.

In the end I kind of agree with Burin, who cares, haha.

Yop. but as i said,if we have the same service/OS ect over time,It's a new breed of next gen.

    .....

"new operating system/dashboard,hardware controller & in some respect a change to the ecosystem overall"

Xbox one in 2013 and Xbox one in 2016 ?

    ......

Console generation is maybe something from the past.I guess, we should find a new word.

    Really disturbing.

  6. "Who cares"?

Depends which side of the consumer equasion feels alienated at the time project scorpio launches.

Nxt gen or current gen. Console Hardware had to be upgraded so devs could finall stop releasing remasters and concentraite more on games that could 'break the mold.' (figure of speech)

You really think it will stop devs/publishers to make remasters....Even BC didn't stop them.

Witcher 3 already "broke the mold".

To me Scorpio is nothing more then a bad guy in a Bond film.

  9. Despite what I posted it could be like my brother said to me

Microsoft didn't do well in attracting day one customers. First there was DRM then they backtracked. Kinect bundled with every machine which sent a lot of gamers elsewhere.

Then for whatever reason so many gamers now seem to be obsessed with "POWER" Xbox One in terms of specs fell a little short of its rival.

So whether we still use the term "Next Gen" or not I see Scorpio as Microsofts next proper step forward and not just some upgrade from Xbox One, I believe we got that already in the Xbox Slim.

^ I agree with "Old" Lofty. I also expect there to be exclusive games that harness the capabilities of the Scorpio despite what they say at the moment. Personally I think the fact they have given the console a completely new name says it all.

It's definitely a unique situation for these consoles, but I would say yes, they are a new generation. It's not just minor tweaks or some kind of add on, it's a full fledged new and more powerful console. I really couldn't care less whether MS or Sony classify
them as such since of course they will want to downplay it a bit so as not to upset existing customerrs who will fly off the handle because their 3 year old console suddenly isn't the latest and greatest anymore.

  13. Do you think that Project Scorpio is "next gen" or not?

^ I never get why people fly off the handle

Maybe some people think life owes them a favour?

I haven't used these forums in a while but not surprised to see the same threads..... " I paid full price and now it's cheaper"......

No doubt in the months after Scorpio is released and it's cheaper , couple of free games it will be the same again but it's very easy, don't want to pay full price? Want a better deal? Simple, be patient, don't rush out day one and WAIT!

same generation to me just an upgrade this is sort of new territory though back in the day we had add ons for sega consoles i suppose either way not a big enough leap and until it has exclusives its not next gen to me
