Do you regret that Microsoft reversed the "ALWAYS ONLINE" policy for XBOX ONE ??

How would a 24 hour check-in stop modded games/content? If you would have played C.O.D., G.T.A.4, or either of the Borderlands games, you'd see tons of modded leader-boards, weapons, matches, etc.. How do you explain that happens when you HAVE to be online
to play multi-player?

M.S. stated that their games could be sold back at authorized retailers and they enabled other publishers to utilize this feature. Looking at MY games that are M.S. published...I have two; Forza 5 and Killer Instinct. 16 others are published by 2K, Activision,
Bethsesda, etc.. Maybe those companies wouldn't participate? Now that would be "Priceless".

Peace, J.R.

People who say we don't have ownership going digital probably have never ever download a game or a movie before. I purchased and downloaded twilight one movie on the XBOX 360 and other movies on the PS3. I can watch those movies on my XBOX ONE and PS4 with
no issue by streaming it.. You still own the movies but just not in disc format. It won';t change as long as you have the platform to do so.

Why is everyone saying that by going disc-less, you loose the ownership ?!? I just don't get it. We download and stream music and movie. They are all discless. I can have access to them because I purchased it.

People are so afraid of changed that it is effecting people who embrace it. DRM is like a disc checking. Geexz

Tell that to people who have had their console banned. Lose your account, lose your games.

I don't have any sympathy for them but it goes to show that you don't own your games.

Randver, if you get pull over and arrested, you car goes to impound until you are released. It doesn't mean you don't own the car. It just means that you don't have to access them until you're cleared.

It's not the same thing.

I've never seen a ToS or CoD for my car. The games are bound to your account, lose your account and your games are gone. If your cleared then you didn't get your account banned so you still have your games.

You don't have a physical copy of the games so you're out of luck.

6. Threads like these remind me that some people are just plain...fill in the blank. Why would you want a system with requirements? As a company you should strive to satisfy the most people it can not the opposite. It doesnt make sense to put all these restrictions
on the system. You bought it, it's yours to do what you want with it. If i dont have internet i should be able to play games i payed for on a system i paid for offline. Those options (always online) should be just that OPTIONAL. Why would anyone in their
right mind fight for such a dumb rules? I dont even care who responds to this, i dont want to argue with anyone who opposes this view, good luck in life.

I still don't know what we were even discussing.

Widespread hacking and modding not related to first person shooters that would have been solved by a 24 hr check in apparently. Hopefully you have advised someone at Microsoft this is occurring because I don't think any of the rest of us have a clue about it.

9. Yeah wish it was changed back.

Also, if your power goes out and you cant think of anything to do besides playing video games, then you should seek professional counseling.

11. @chasedgibbon Power going out /= internet going out. One will definitely keep you from video gaming, and the other one shouldn't except for games that are online MP and companies who feel they should add an arbitrary requirement to it that is not really
needed. And why should I be fine with not being able to play a video game that should be perfectly playable except some company added on the requirement? I bought the rights to play it, why should I get dictated by the company when I should play it? What possible
good does it do for me not to be able to play it?

So, basically, let's say a company wants to make sure you're not stealing your toilet so they want to check up on the internet on your toilet to make sure it's yours (it's a hypothetical situation, it's not supposed to be realistic so don't try to counter
that there is no reason a company would worry about that, the point is to give you a situation where it is more obvious the other point). You're not allowed to flush when the internet is off. Sure, you don't need to flush, you can go poop somewhere else while
the internet is off or just deal with the fact your toilet is gross until internet comes back on. So I guess that's good reason for the company to add on that arbitrary requirement because, well, you don't *have* to flush your toilet at all times and you can
go poop some where else if you have to.
Are you stargazing again? :p

Well I hope I can choose one day if I want a online check in or not.

I game online so why can´t I get advantage out of it?
What advantage?

You want to have to go online once a day so Microsoft can check your game licenses?

Currently you can do everything you could have done with the policy. Don't want to swap disc then buy all your games digitally.

The 24hr check in was never something that was going to give us anything, it was the means that Microsoft was going to use to confirm game licenses. Their policy regarding the game licenses ( selling, trading. sharing ) is what in theory would have given us
something. They could have made it weekly check ins, monthly check ins, only check in when you activate or de-activate a license, etc.

The discussion is about whether Microsoft was going to ever be able make good on their selling, trading. sharing promises once the policy went in effect.
Because I would most likely not deal with cheaters and modders since this will be hard for people to do when their Xbox get checked ones a day.

I am pretty sure that was the main reason for the 24 hour check in and a fast Xbox One.

ANd NO I can NOT have the same advantage right now.

Pure stubborness of people is why we lost this feature
Your gaming activity is hidden but I'm assuming you're talking about cheaters and modders in CoD or some other FPS.

The 24hr check in was a license check, it had nothing to do with catching cheaters and modders. If your gaming with cheaters and modders it means they are online probably for hours on end, it's the only way they can be impacting your gameplay. I'm not understanding
the logic of why going online once a day would catch these people that aren't getting caught playing online hours everyday.

How it was going to make the One fast is even more of a head scratcher.
Cause you don´t understand it.

Your Xbox would go through a fast check and would always be updated to make sure there can´t be mods on your console.

My history is not showing for you, for my friends it is ;)

I don´t play Call of Duty. I never did.

It´s more about modded content not just games.

Xbox would safe a ton of money and could use that to make Xbox Live better if they get rid of system tampering.

That´s what I saw in the 24 hour log in.

Sure they could have change it to 48 hours or something but in general I like that log in idea.

To the people who are stating Microsoft never said game sharing with friends wasn't ever said:

.

.

“Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends. There are no fees charged as part of these transfers. There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for
at least 30 days, and each game can only be given once.”

.

.

This WAS going to happen. The "10" user restriction came AFTER the reversal, and the NEW SHARING limitations was "9 family members". This was later updated AGAIN to say ALL family members, no limit at all.

.

.

As far as licensing goes, this was going to be allowed if the developer chose it (which would be stupid they wouldn't).

.

.

Now, for some insider details on how this was going to work: Firstly, the game wasn't going to be "shared" to the point a person would never have to pay for a game again. LIKE DEMOS, full game sharing had a limited life span, which varied based on publisher
request. It could be 24 hours or it could be 3 days.

.

.

Once the game's limit was up, gamers would have the choice to either purchase the game or allow it to uninstall. Catch is: it wasn't going to uninstall completely. The goal here was that if you played the game well enough to like it, but didn't/couldn't
pay for it at the expiration, you'd eventually come back to wanting it and it'll already be set up for you (license then granted for the console to use).

.

.

Microsoft had also the plans to sell digital games, and this was all built on the premise of requiring the once-a-day check in. This is because Microsoft had to ensure that you weren't trying to pawn off your disc copy while trying to cash in your digital
copy. The ONLINE CHECK-IN WAS REQUIRED for this to be offered.

.

.

DRM swings both ways and Microsoft was looking to take the lead to allow new ways to use digital files. All that's gone now, and people applauded Sony's "sharing" program without even realizing THE GAME DISK IS DRM, PEOPLE!

.

.

Now, we're stuck with another generation of buying digital things without any true ownership of being able to share or sell them.

.

.

Thanks, gamers.

I don't understand what your point is. The whole point of the program is to let people play games they didn't pay for.
