    Do you need to be a gold member for a certain amount of time to redeem free games?


    Hi

    I am currently a silver member. I want to redeem Dishonored from the Games with Gold offer (coming August 16).

    So do I need to be a gold member for a certain amount of time to redeem it? Or can I just buy 1 month gold on August 15 and still redeem it?

    No, they are permanent downloads on the 360 regardless of Live status.

    I found this, I think it answers your question: Is this only for new members?

    Games with Gold is available to all Xbox Live Gold members. To download free games you just need to be an Xbox Live Gold member at the time of redemption of any Games with Gold offering.

    You can redeem as soon as the Gold membership becomes active. To prevent delays in redemption and the ensure you get both free games for August I would recommend redeeming your Gold membership on the console and not the website.

    If you do decide to redeem the code on the website there will be a delay before it becomes active on the console. To speed up the delay go to Settings>System>Network and run a Connection Test. This will log you out. When you log back in your membership
    should become active.
