Do you have to have Internet to use blu ray player now?

Blu-ray player probably needs an update if it requires an internet connection. Unfortunately, older versions and builds don't work offline sometimes

in my own experience it is possible to use the BluRay offline, however if the BluRay player needs to be updated and you are offline, it will not play disk. You may need to connect to the internet to update the player.

Thanks for reaching out to us today. I would recommend to try a bit of troubleshooting in regards to this to get the disc to play on your console. I see you've mentioned to have done the hard reset also known as
'power cycle' on the console.

Now, since this comes with playing a game using the Blu-ray app I suggest for you to clear the console's
persistent storage (this will clear Blu-ray–specific data that's been cached to the console. )

1. Remove the disc from your console.
2. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
3. Select System > Settings > Disc & Blu-ray > Blu-ray
4. SelectPersistent Storage> Clear 2x
5. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
6. Select System > Settings > Restart now, and then select
   Yes to confirm.

Give this a shot and let us know if the error is still persisting.

Unfortunately, with the Xbox One you do need internet access in order to play select Blu-rays. Especially the newer ones as it needs the app update for them. After that you should be able to play them offline.

I can't. I said in the op that the internet is down. I shouldn't have to have Internet to use the blu ray player.
