Do you have time to game in college?

So this fall 2014, I'll be headed off to college for my freshman year. I expect to be given a lot more work than I ever did in high school, and at a much higher level (I intend to major in Computer science and minor in music).

Between now and then, however, I'm going to start working my job again and do various odd jobs around town as well, which will earn me a substantial amount of money. This gives me the option to purchase an Xbox One, amongst other options which are likely
more sensible.

So if there's anyone out there who is currently in college and likes to play video games on any platform, I'd appreciate it if you could advise me on this: do you often find time to game in college? If so, would it be worth buying an Xbox one for this purpose?

I don't usually game during the week, most of it I do on the weekends. So on average, I'd say about 5 or 6 hours a week. If I did buy an Xbox one, I would seek to buy the titanfall bundle. Also, I do a lot of gaming over vacations and the summer with friends.

If you're going to school full-time AND working, you're not going to have much free time, if any at all. You'll have to attend classes, go to work, and make time for studying, reading, and doing homework. By the time you finish all of that, you'll be so
tired that you'll just want to go to sleep. Good luck!

 

Yes and no.

Depends on how much time you want to spend studying and socializing.

College is the first taste of real life....other than major bills. But for the most part....you have work to do....and some, like me, had to work while in college. I still found time to game though it wasn't a whole lot.

Frankly....I wouldn't game too much during college. There are so many other things to do with your free time during the time of your life that is suppose to be the time of your life.

You can still do it when you want to relax and it'll be there when you get out of college when you have more free time and if you decide you hate ppl and just want to spend time with gaming characters.

 

It's all about time management, you always need a break from work and school so as long as you dedicate some of you free time or 'break time' to gaming then you should still be able to fit it in, though you are doing a double major so you can expect to be
busy.

 

Yes. I go to collage part time, work full time, have a wife and 2 kids and still have time to game. Although that time is 12-2am

 

Yes. As stated above it is all about time management. Just don't let the gaming interfere with classes and work.... gaming should be the lowest priority in your daily routine.

 

I played games all through college...I also had time to get excellent grades, have a part time job and a boyfriend. I'm not sure how I pulled it all together, but I did.

No, he's still alive and still loves me. He's not one of those lesser willed guys that can't handle challenges.

 

There is challenges and then there is jumping into burning flames of death! Maybe he doesn't cop all the crap we do because he doesn't own an xbox one.

 

He's a sony fan and has a ps3, I've always preferred my 360. We get along wonderfully, always have. I know, it's hard to believe! : )
