Do You Care About The HALO 5 BETA?

i will say one thing .. the beta so far has been really smooth.

 

Okay, so here are my thoughts on it after playing more.

I was very impressed with the gameplay. It seems very smooth and fluid, all of the Spartan Abilities fit the level designs perfectly. They're exactly what I would expect from a Spartan too, and if any of the Halo books were adapted into a game, this kind
of gameplay and style is what would fit them IMO. Finally we're getting to access some of the epic capabilities of a Spartan, AND they're balanced too. It takes some skill to line up a ground-pound, and to do it fast enough to avoid being shot down before
reaching your target. If you miss your target in Spartan Charge, you're pretty much dead. (Unless you have a teammate distracting your opponent) I do think that the Thruster Pack could be toned down a bit, as it's pretty easy to use it to avoid death. Maybe
decrease the range ever so slightly. Sprint seems slower to me, and nerfed to the point where it's only a very temporary retreat from danger, if at all. Not as useful as a getaway ability like in Halo: Reach and Halo 4. I wonder if it might help to put mobility
losses back in when you're getting shot. Or, maybe this would just break sprint. As for those saying that it copies Call of Duty, Titanfall and the rest... Remember, those titles copied Halo (4) first.

Now on to the gunplay.

Overall, I really enjoy the gunplay. It's fun to use most of the weapons, but it does seem to me that the kill-times are slightly too short. It's very easy to get out-AR'd at close range because of how lethal it is now, and this can be frustrating. However,
I think that the short kill times might have been put in place to counter the fact that there is almost zero auto-aim. That's something I've noticed, since usually I'm accurate with my weapons in other Halo games, but my shots were all over the place in the
Beta, a testament to the lack of auto-aim. I do think they may want to reduce the kill times simply because of the fact that these are Spartans in MP, not regular soldiers. HOWEVER, these are Spartan-IVs, which aren't as resilient or skilled as Spartan-IIs
or even IIIs, I don't think.

Smart-scope. It's a very controversial topic among players, especially the fact that it slightly increases accuracy. I see people whining about how they need to change this, and how it wasn't in the other Halo games, when this is blatantly ignorant. Halo:
Combat Evolved, Halo 3, and Reach (I think) all had increased accuracy when using a scope on scoped weapons. In fact, I have a couple videos to prove this.

Spartan chatter is another very debated thing. Personally, I have no problem with it as it's helpful to hear the little call-outs and I prefer remaining silent on the mic most of the time. People complain that it isn't characteristic of Spartans, when these
are Spartan-IVs, most of which were ODSTs. As any Halo fan should know, ODSTs are loud, rude and proud. But, even the Spartan-IIs talked a fair amount with each other, during combat as well as when they weren't fighting. They were mostly silent with outsiders,
though, which apparently gave some people the impression that they were mostly silent with everyone.

As for the lighting, I think it could definitely be adjusted. Take some of the glare from the Prophets' Bane and put it in the menu.

 

I played it and hated it, but I will rent the game for the campaign!

 

Nope. Haven't been interested in Halo since Halo 3.

 

Earlier on I was very interested in the HALO 5 Beta...

But then the "Master Chief Collection" dropped and was a poor multiplayer experience.

So poor that I can't even be bothered to put it in the drive and give it a spin when there are games like "Destiny" and the rest to be played.

 

The MCC is fixed due to the various updates it's been given. Go ahead and give it a try now.

 

I eventually will but I'm in no rush because there's so much better stuff to play that worked the first time around.

 

I'm satisfied with it, considering that it is a BETA. People tend to forget that and view it as a finished game. I'm excited to play the next couple phases of the beta but I admit playing on the same two maps gets boring quickly.

I gave it a rating of meh out of meh but will no doubt buy it as friends want me to get back into it and play some games with them. It plays like Halo 3, feels like reach and is skinned like halo 4.

 

I love halo for the singleplayer an co op stopped playing the mp after halo 3 i might give it a try when the full game releases

 

I like all the new abilities. The game feels more balanced.

 

Actually, it seems very skill-based to me now as well. I do wish they would lower the kill times on the Assault Rifle slightly.

 

I don't think I've seen anyone on my friends list play this. If they have, it must have been one game? lol Anyways, it just seems like the "excitement" for all these other betas hasn't hit this one... or maybe it's just
my imagination.

 

Well for starters its a multiplayer beta and a lot of players who play Halo don't even play the multiplayer as much as the campaign. It is also an arena shooter which also targets a select group of even the guys who do play FPS MP. It isn't really directed
to a large audience. I have a few friends who have/are playing it on and off.
