Do voice commands work on new the Kinectless XB1?

They would reverse that silly decision too. It would be so much better using your mic anyway. It's faster to hook up if you don't want the Kinect out all the time. It's also better because you won't have to yell.

More options usually means better sales.

Are there any issues with XB1?

My kinectless Xbox One is unbelievably quiet. No one is using voice commands on it.

I should think you would have to repeat voice commands quite a lot with a kinectless XB1.....

 

I don't have to yell. My kinect hears me just fine. Also more options sometimes hurt sales. Not saying it would in this case just sometimes to much to think about can lead to going to a simpler product.

If you offer most of ( second biggest reason for kinect) the options without Kinect then whats the point of the kinect? It sure is heck is not for kinect based games. What are there maybe 2 out there now?

 

Well you don't have to yell but you certainly have to talk louder depending on how far you sit from it. I always play at night so I have to be as quiet as possible to avoid WR.

 

I think people look to "big picture" and don't focus and some of the little things. Tomb Raiderefinitive Edition is a nice example; "Map", "Silence", and grabbing the item to look at it were nice touches. Head tracking in Forza 5? Battlefield 4 has some
nice commands from what I've heard.

Imaging how cool it would be to scan yourself into a Elder Scrolls/Fallout game and BEING the hero. A proper Fight Night using the Kinect would be awesome in my opinion!

SHOW people how good the Kinect is and sales will soar...peeing down my back and telling me it's raining isn't the same (Outlaw Josey Wales reference). Lol.

Yeah... remember back when there was all that advertising and the kid scanned in his own skateboard? That was one of the reasons I wasn't all that upset about the Kinect being
bundled. I saw the potential to scan oneself 'into' a game like TES and I loved the idea. To me (at that time) voice commands were secondary lol.

I'd really like to know what happened with those ideas. Are they simply still waiting to be announced? Were they abandoned because it just wasn't feasible?

The scanning in of things is really an idea I'd love to see play out. How about Fable type games... remember the dog you could train? What if I could scan in my dog? Or what about things
like everyday objects that could be scanned into our games? The phone used in Watchdogs, for example.

What if certain 'gestures' could be used (in SP mode lol) in a game that would taunt the AI to respond? I can think of a few times I've 'gestured' at my TV even before Kinect...

I think there are a lot of cool little ideas like that, which would really make people feel even more connected to their games and the events/characters in them.

 

I would hope they are just waiting to be announced rather than not being feasible.

Scanning my dog would be pure AWESOME!!! Though if a in-game squirrel would appear, I wouldn't see my fur monster the rest of the level. Lol.

Honestly they were probably abandoned when people started complaining about "having" to buy the Kinect. IMHO they should have marketed it as a necessary part of the console not as a peripheral. Maybe took a loss on the cost and priced the system comparable
to their competitors. Instead of kowtowing to the vocal minority. If they truly believed in the Kinect, they would have put their full weight behind it.

 

Ok how about Microsoft make an app u can BUY and download, that allows voice commands through a mic. Then everyone one wins. The early adopters won't feel like they are being shafted without lube and everyone else can opt. To buy headset functionality?

Or is this thread about how we want something else for free that others paid for?

 

I understand why early adopters feel it shouldn't be free but, to compete against the PS4, I say, take one for the team.

Flip the switch, share the tech and let's finally put that spy box to rest...

Do Voice Commands on Xbox 360 work without the Kinect? Same goes for Xbox 1. If you want the feature, get the Kinect.

 

Oh and making early adopters feel like they got shafted up and out the mouth is good for business and won't destroy the most prestigious customer base that stood in line and showed their support? Please go on and tell me how that's good for business. But
whatever, this generation is cheap and needs to quit wanting everything for free, go out and work for something.

And don't say, we'll some of us can't work, because u can. My mother in law is handicap and makes $18 an hour working out the house on the phone and writing articles for magazines.

 

With the release of the Kinectless sku, and voice commands being central to navigating the UI, I think we'll see mic voice command support very soon.
