Do People Really Pre-order Digital Games 6 Months In Advance?

I only buy Digital and i will only do it a day or 2 before launch day if

1. I intend to play it on launch day ( Preloading large game files because it usually takes 6 hours for a game)

2. Or a bonus game like Quantum break where i got the windows 10 version plus Alan wake extras for doing what i usually do in the point above.

 

A while ago I made a conscious effort to stop pre-ordering games, there was a time where you actually might miss out on a game due when it released due to its popularity, but I feel every since CoD exploded they make sure there is more than enough physical
copies and with the digital age you'll never miss out.

However, there is always the exception and I just get some *** excited I'll throw my money away without evening caring, Deus Ex Mankind Divided I'm looking at you!

 

If you love it that badly, then yes.

Regarding PC games, everyone should check out PLANET COASTER by FRONTIER. The full complete game comes out later this year but you can upgrade and get the ALPHA version of the game which is.... AMAZING. Check it out on YouTube and.... Frontier's Planet Coaster
forums are WAY more interesting and busy. It makes Microsoft's Xbox forum, ^ this, look like a ghost town. Way more peps contribute their than here. I'm now missing days of being on here. FRONTIER is a British game developer who is not foreign to Microsoft
though. They make Screamride and Zoo Tycoon for Xbox 1 and Xbox 360. Also Screamride is exclusive to Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 ONLY. It's not made for any other platform not even for PC. And the game looks amazing on Xbox 1. They also make Zoo Tycoon 2013 edition
exclusively for Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. Forget about PS4 lol.

Another great thing about the Frontier Planet Coaster forums, is their site loads pages WAY quicker than this site it's true sadly. And their site looks more colourful yet clean with no ads at the same time. And you can add smileys too which will
appeal to the younger peps and myself. And actual Frontier game devs participate their too.

 

Actually I'm gaga about Final Fantasy XV. Square Enix finally announced an official release date for later this year! Initially called Final Fantasy XIII Versus in 2006!!!!! it's been like the longest game ever in development by Square Enix. I haven't pre-ordered
it yet though. I'm also interested in Recore, but I'm still consumed with Planet Coaster and Minecraft that I haven't wanted to pre-order it. I can always get it when it releases.

 

I'd definitely pre-order a digital game 6 months in advance...if there was a good offer, say, pre-order for £30. But that will never happen.

Instead we are still being charged £55 for the standalone vanilla editions of digital games, which this day and age is beyond contempt.

 

I usually preorder a few days in advance so I can preload.

 

6 months in advanced? Try only 1 day in advanced lol. That way your spending your money on something which isn't like far fetched or know that you're getting it really soon. I don't know about American retailers but they allow it in New Zealand.

 

It is their money. Digital games no I have never did. I think I did preorder one COD 6 months ahead. But I treat preorders like layaway. Mafia 3 looks good and it is coming out near my birthday so I may go ahead and buy at full price.

 

Pre-order culture is poisoning the Gaming Industry. I have stopped all Pre-orders for about two years now.

 

I used to pre-order games quite often as there was a good chance of receiving it before the actual launch date, but I find this never happens anymore as retailers are stricter. Nowadays if I want a game desperately enough to have on launch day I will just
pop out to my local Tesco extra and pick it up at midnight on the night before. For me this is pretty much any new Halo or Gears of War game.

 

I do here and there. Specially it has good offer or want played badly on day one. And I can't drive. So if I had the money and wanted on day one. I just pre-order it.

 

it really depends, i will pre-order a digital game when i have the extra funds and when i have room on my monthly data cap, i started paying much closer attention to my usage when i actually went over 999Gbs in a month.

and does Kickstarter count? if so then i've pre-order a couple of games a year or more in advance.
