  1. Do I need to repair my Xbox?

This started with being unable to connect to Xbox live definitely to play backwards compatible games. After hours of trying everything with support except working with my isp (they are morons and dont know what to do) i was told to have my xbox physically repaired.

is there a part on the xbox that connects it to xbox live? that doesn't seem right to me. Its not an internet issue, its staying connected to xbox's servers. I can connect once and then i lose connection. It seems like software and not hardware to me

    :)

Do I need to repair my Xbox?

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this MIDWAYINOURLIFE

We can try to isolate the problem even more before concluding a hardware issue. For this please tell me:

What did you tried so far to fix this?
To avoid giving you the same troubleshooting steps
Did you tried using a completely different Wi-Fi network?
And just to confirm, are you using an insider build / beta OS in your console?

Unfortunately there is no way to use the console 100% offline.

Okay, I think that the last option and in case you didn't try it, is perform an offline update for your console. In that way Xbox system will be installed from scratch.
For this you need a USB and PC to format it and transfer files provided in the link below (with detailed steps and requirements ):

Do I need to repair my Xbox?

What did you tried so far to fix this?

    • power cycle, obviously
    • cleared the mac
    • tried different games
    • set the dns server to manual, primary:8.8.8.8 and secondary to 8.8.4.4
    • tried to connect to an online service on a non bc 360 game, no dice (ubisoft store in ac syndicate, if that matters)
    • reset my account
    • factory wiped the xbox, not loading in old data
    • factory wiped loading in old data
    • and one guy wanted me to "disable and enable the UPNP function and disable the modem firewall, if you have a modem and a router the process has to be done on both devices. put console IP in dmz zone. port 80 (udp) port 3074 (udp and tcp) port 53 (udp and tcp) port 80 (tcp) port 500 (upd) port 3544 (udp) port 4500 (udp)" but i spent two hours with my ISP and when they got told this stuff they acted like i was speaking another language no matter who i was transferred too

Did you tried using a completely different Wi-Fi network?

    yes

And just to confirm, are you using an insider build / beta OS in your console?

no. its the same out the box 1 terrabyte xbox i bought and ive never have gone under the hood, so to speak

what would actually make me happiest is to be able to play all my games completely offline. i have a distrust of having aging tech rely on a service that could get sunsetted any year. I dont play online games, anyways. If there is a way to permanently remove my xb1 from the net then i am all ears

What do I need to do to send my Xbox in for repairs

Hi, HUR5TGANG1090! thank you for reaching out.

My name is AJ, I'm an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.

I'm sorry to hear your console is in need of repairs.

Do you know if your console is still under warranty? if your console is under warranty, repairs would be free of cost. Xbox consoles typically have a warranty period of 1 year after purchase, although this may vary depending on your country of residence.

    • If you want to check your warranty status and/or issue a service order, click on the next link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/devices

Once your console is registered, click on "See details" and start a service order from the "Device coverage" section.

Note: If your Xbox console or Xbox accessory is no longer covered by your Standard Limited Warranty, you may be eligible for out-of-warranty service for a fee. Please refer to this page for more information on out-of-warranty service orders: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne...

    * Out-of-Warranty service orders are currently only available for Xbox Seris X/S consoles.
