Do I need to own an Xbox One to play an Xbox play anywhere title on the PC?

As the title says. I don't own an Xbox One, but I have a Windows 10 PC, and I'd like to play Gears of War 4.

Can I?

Certainly sorry this is happening. However at this time, Minecraft is not what is called a play anywhere title. A play anywhere title means you when you own the digital versions of a title, it’s yours to play on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. The titles

Xbox Play Anywhere Without Xbox?

For "Xbox Play Anywhere", you can purchase a "Play Anywhere" game on either the Xbox Store or the Windows Store. Keep in mind that this only applies to digital download purchases.

You don't necessarily need an Xbox One to own a "Play Anywhere" title. If you are just using a computer, you will only need to make sure it's running Windows 10 (with the Anniversary Update).

"Play Anywhere" will give you the option to run the same game on the Xbox One, if you ever decide to get an Xbox One later on. All game progress/achievements are carried between platforms via your Microsoft Account.

No, absolutely not! You do not need to have an Xbox One to play a Play Anywhere title.

You just need to have a fully updated Windows 10 Anniversary (version 1607).

Be careful that ONLY the digital versions are Play Anywhere. NOT the disc version.

Thanks dude... I guessed this would be the case.

But still, they never mentioned anywhere that you don't need to own an Xbox One to play, a play anywhere titl;, and I found that kind of fishy...
