Do I need to be online to use backwards compatibility on Xbox One?

I do not have wifi at my new house and my phones portable wifi is too weak to conect to xbox live so I would like to know if I need to be conected to xbox live to play xbox live to play 360 games on xbox one

This is not true the Xbox One can play quite a few Xbox 360 games through backwards compatibility. Please note the console needs to be online to allow it to download the backwards compatible version of the game.

Does XB1 require an internet connection at all times for the 360 backwards compatibility function?

I understand the basics of the backwards compatibility function, but does an Xbox One console need to be online to use the game once it’s been installed? (I'm talking about games that would normally be played offline, of course - not multiplayer or Live
games)

 

Yes, if you want to be able to sign into your xbox 360 profile.

 

Phone hotspots aren't the greatest for gaming you are better off with hardwired or WiFi

 

You only need to be connected to live to play live multiplayer

But you also need to download the patch or game if on disk or games on demand in order to play them too
