Do I need the Xbox wireless adaptor for elite series 2 on windows?

This is my second replacement on the elite series 2 and now I am starting to think that Bluetooth isn’t fully compatible on the elite series 2. My Bluetooth works with other things flawlessly. Even my PS5 controller has zero issues. But my elite series 2 controller disconnects and reconnects every 5 seconds until after a couple of min then the Xbox button just starts slow pulsing until I remove the Bluetooth device and find it again. So will the Xbox wireless adaptor help me?

    :)

Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

Hey Mycrusade35, how are you today? Hope you're well.

Mycrusade35, the last firmware update, came with this bug of not connecting properly on PC after you update it. It's not an issue with your controller. Since another gamers are reporting this already, I believe Microsoft are aware and working to solve this issue, releasing another firmware update soon. :) But I advise you, if you can, report this on the Insiders hub app on your PC too. And Don't think the wireless adapter could help, but, if you have a way to test it out before you actually purchase it, would be great.

Xbox Elite Controller 2 will not connect VIA usb or Bluetooth to my pc

The original XBox Elite controller requires the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 so without that adapter it will not be recognized properly by Windows. The newer, Elite Series 2 can connect to a Windows 10 PC without the need of an adapter.

Controller works on Win10, Xbox Accessories App doesn't

    Hi,

Yes, both PC's I've tried and got the same results have both been Windows 10.

So far I've tried the following:

    • 2 Win10 PC's
    • Signed in to both PC's within Xbox Game Bar
    • All USB ports on both PC's
    • 2 or more Microsoft branded USB-C's
    • 2 Elite Series 2 controllers
    • 1 Robot White Series X|S controller
    • 1 Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adaptor for Windows 10
    • Restarting PC's
    • Restarting App
    • Uninstalling and reinstalling app
    • Checking drivers for controllers and wireless adaptors
I don't know what more troubleshooting steps anyone else could come up with. Open to suggestions however. Thanks again for the help so far.

Adapter Xbox 360 for PC and new controller.

    Hi,

    I’m Killing Skids

The Answer Is Yes as Long As it has Bluetooth or wireless connection
    Hi,

That's not quite right. Apologies for quoting you.

The Xbox 360 controller uses a proprietary wireless technology, it's not Bluetooth and the old adaptors won't work with a modern controller like the Xbox One or Series X|S controllers.

Unlike Xbox 360 wireless controllers, Xbox One and Series controllers can also be connected via USB cable. Old Xbox One controllers use Micro USB, Series Controllers are USB C.

To use an Xbox One/ Series controller via wireless on a PC and get basic functionality, all you need to do is connect the controller via Bluetooth. If your PC doesn't have Bluetooth then you'll need to buy a Bluetooth USB dongle, they're very cheap, less than $10. I'm from the UK and I connect my Series X controller to my PC via BT dongle I purchased from Amazon for about £5.

For extra wireless features you'll need the Xbox One Wireless Adaptor for Windows 10. Unfortunately, the official Microsoft branded adaptors are now quite rare.
