Do I need the headset adapter with the new controller?

I'm planning on buying the Xbox One 1T console with the controller that has a 3.5mil headset jack thing, but I want to know if my headset will work I have a Turtle Beach headset. Ear Force X32. With this new controller, will I still need this adapter? If
I use a Xbox 360 on Xbox One will I get to use the microphone and head game sound? How can I check if my headset is compatible?

Controller update question

With the new update I understand there is new firmware for the controller. Do I only need a micro usb cable to update my controller or do you need the headset adapter to update it ms has directions on their site for updating it only with the adaptor and
a headset attached.

Headset problems

I got one of the new wired star wars controllers but there is no where to put the adapter in for my xbox one stereo headset. I took the adapter out and put the headset itself into the 3.5mm jack and it works fine but theres no way to change the volume so
I have it stuck at full volume. While it's plugged into the controller it can't be detected in devices and accessories in the settings menu to change the volume from there either. Do I need a new adapter for the 3.5mm or do I need a new headset all together?
Help would be appreciated.

If the headset you are talking about has a 3.5mm jack to plug into it then you won't need the adapter anymore. However since it still has the old port aswell you can still use it if you choose to

I can't get my Turtle Beach Seven or my Astro A50 to work with the new controller

uh i used x07 pro and astro 50s on them even the skullcandy plyr1 headset works on the new controller.

and yeah the new controller also has the port for old 1st party accessories.

if you use the built in jack your volume and chat sounds can be found in settings/devices&Accessories/Xbox wireless controller/ LEFT side bottom 2 options.

IF you use the chat adapter these options will be grayed out.

IF you plugged the chat adapter in while you had the console already running or ingame you will have to make sure the controller is assigned to you.

You only need to update the controller if you are going to use the new headset adapter.

So long as the jack on your headset is 3.5mm then the standard Xbox adapter should be fine to use your headset on the Xbox One. However, if you're so inclined they do now have a new controller that has a 3.5mm jack built in so there would be no adapter
needed.
