Do I need an Xbox live connection to be able to use DLC songs from my hard drive?

Hi,

I have an Xbox 360 in my new residence country, Thailand, that's not in the supported list of countries for Xbox live. And I have an Xbox 360 Elite and Xbox live subscription in my home country, Finland with lots of DLC songs for the Rock Band game series
in the hard drive.

I'd like to use those songs, and a few new ones I'd like to download (mainly the Iron Maiden 6-pack released on 2012 I somehow managed to miss ><) on my new Xbox 360 in Thailand. Will there be any problems if the next time I go to Finland I download a bunch
of new DLC's into the Xbox 360 Elite hard drive from Xbox live, pack up and take the hard drive with me to Thailand and use it here? Are the hard drives on Xbox 360 Elite compatible with a regular Xbox 360?

hey just curious. I have 800 dlc songs on my xbox. if i were to get a usb hard drive would i been able to copy all the dlc then put the songs on my girlfriends xbox too?? like can a i have the dlc on both xboxs so i can all my songs with her on live?? any
help on that??

The songs have two licenses, one tied to the Xbox they were bought on and one tied to the Gamertag they were bought with. If you put these songs on her Xbox then you would need to be signed in to her Xbox in order for them to work.

 

If it's the first console to have the music downloaded to--then no. Transfer your licenses to that console just to make sure. Good luck.

Okey, so if I understood correctly I do the following steps:

1. On your console, sign in to Xbox Live using the gamertag that you used to purchase the content.

2. Go to settings, and then select Account.

3. Under Your Billing Options, select License Transfer.

4. Follow the instructions to transfer the content licenses.

5. After you transfer the licenses, download the content again to update the local licenses. For information about how to do this, see How to redownload previously downloaded or purchased content to your Xbox 360.

and then unplug the hard drive, put it into a new console with no Xbox live and I can use the downloaded content on that console?

 

when you do a license transfer, you can do via your xbox 360 as stated above or do it via xbox.com under your account/billing, once done your content will be accessible to that console with out the use of xbox live/ been singed in to use it, but if you
go to use it on a different console other then the one you transfer to and the one it was originally payed for one you will have to be singed in to xbox live to use it, hope this helps

 

The console I want to use the content on does not have xbox live possibility as its located in Thailand, one of the countries that doesnt support xbox live. Is there a way to use the content without bringing the whole original console around the world? Im
afraid itd break down on the flight.
