Do I have to install game to xbox before I can play it on my phone via streaming/remote play?

Xbox offers remote play and cloud gaming. You can stream games from your console to your phone of PC.

If a game is enabled for cloud gaming, you can play them on a PC/phone without having downloaded the game to your console. More info can be found at https://www.xbox.com/play

But to confirm, I can remotely purchase the game (via phone) and it will be installed on Series S.

I do not have access to the error code at this time on the Xbox App on PC that is provided to me, but I will try to get it shortly.

As for the error on Xbox itself, it just says that the game does not allow live streaming, and it says this for every game and even if I do not have a game open when I am in the Twitch app itself inputting information about a broadcast (and have not even selected start streaming). I do start the game before I set up the twitch broadcast typically, and I have also tried setting up the broadcast first and then starting the game, starting streaming and then starting the game, just to be sure something hadn't changed or I wasn't doing things backwards.

I first noticed this issue about two days before the post, I do not know if there was a recent update to the system, and there were no new installations.

Windows is up to date and Xbox app is also up to date as far as I'm aware. I can play cloud games on Xbox itself (have not tried the app) but cannot connect my Xbox to the app like I could before, that is to remotely play games on my console. I have not tested to see if it works with my phone, as my phone is rather small and do not like having to bend over to look at it, and I am not sure where I have placed my tablet at this time to attempt with a slightly bigger screen.

The strange thing is that passkey is not asked when you do remote play (I was trying this myself.)

So, nope. Having a passkey doesn't prevent you to do remote play.

If you have close your Xbox please try deleting and re-adding your profile. And before that turn off temporarily remote features and enable it as soon as you add your account.

But you can try using your controller (connected via Bluetooth to your phone) and try entering the passkey in that way

Yes this is possible, I stream like this all the time.

There are two ways to do this first is if you bought an external capture device.

Second way is how I do it, you can use the Xbox Companion app on your PC to remote play your Xbox, then use a streaming app on your pc to stream the Xbox Companion app. Just note that you may want to join party chats via the Xbox companion app instead of
on your console and also continue to play via controller on your Xbox to not experience delays playing via the pc app.
