Do I have to wait till my subscription ends before i can redeem a new xbox live gold subscription?

I have an Xbox live gold subscription expiring on the 4th of Feb. I bought another gift card for 3 months. When I try to redeem in, it says "Something went wrong" and it says either "Give it another try. If it doesn't work, go to [Xbox support site] for
help (error code XBOS-5002)" or it says "Try again is a few minutes (ERROR CODE XBOS3008)". Do I have to wait till my current subscription expires? before I can redeem another Xbox live gold subscription?

If you haven't subscibed before, then you can take advantage of the offer. If you have any subscriptions, say Xbox Live Gold, then that will get converted. If you decide to take advantage, once you select your payment, go to HTTPS://account.microsoft.com/services and
turn off auto renew.

Do not cancel at any time as this will cancel any Xbox Live subscriptions you have

Hi,

you friend must have Xbox Live Gold subscription still active. You must be connect always if you want play all games from your friend. If you are not connect. Can be temporary problem in your connection, or Xbox Live service - you must check Xbox Live service
status. Or your ISP can have problem with internet connectivity to you as client.

Sign up for Microsoft rewards and you can earn points to get subscriptions. Points can be earned for free. I haven't paid for mine as I use my points to get Xbox Live and have it till end of may 2021 free.

I doubt that the subscription service will change for Xbox Live.

Thank Bimnog and Jamie you for your support and help but it still didn't work

I tried the whole procedure as suggested by Bimnog but the problem prevails. This is what i'm encountering. My xbox live doesn't connect on its own, though i'm connected to
internet. Under network settings I do get this information: NAT type: Open, and All Services are Available. Yet when I test my connection it gives the message "Your network is good, but there are some xbox service issues". I do get connected to live after
I forget my network and add it again by giving password but this is a repeated procedure too, I have to do it so many times before i get the message "Everything is Good". And once i'm connected to live, i do not get disconnected. It is just the initial connection
which is bothering me. Can you please suggest something else? Thank you again.
