Do I have to change the settings every time I use the headphones?

Hi all,

I am looking to get the new turtle beach 500x for my son.

I understand that I have to change the audio output setting on the xbox for them to work (they use optical out, not the 3.5mm jack).

Do I have to reverse the settings every time I want the game sound through the TV i.e., not using chat, or do they also come through the tv?

I hope not, as this would be quite regular, as I don't use them when I'm playing!

Roxio game capture please help!

I use the Roxio, make sure you change the setting to every setting type in Roxio settings, change the Record quality to 480p/ 720p. 1080p. This should fix the problem, mine used to do it. My settings are NTSC M and 720p recording rate. Hope this helps

 

I have to test every time?

My issue has been resolved! My internet stopped working earlier, so I restarted my modem to get it working again. Then, I turned on my Xbox. I was able to connect to Xbox LIVE without testing. Thanks a lot for trying to help.

 

Hey buddy.

These particular headphones use the optical cable for the game sound and the USB is used for the chat. This enables the user to change chat and game independently. Also it enables the mic, as optical is one way only. Essentially the chat is all handled through
USB as to bypass the controller.

So to answer your question, you shouldn't have to change any settings at all.

I wasn't very clear!

Currently the xbox is connected to the TV through HDMI for picture and sound.

If I change the audio out to optical (to use the headphones), will it stop the sound to the TV via the hdmi?

Hi there, stoney! Actually, you shouldn't need to change any settings, because fortunately the sound settings aren't an "either-or" option. You are basically setting the output format for both connection types, so your TV should still work even with the
headset attached to the Optical out.

For example, I have the same setup - HDMI cable from X1 straight into my TV, and Dolby Digital over optical to my Tritton 7.1 headset, and I tested it out, I can get sound from both places simultaneously!
