  1. Do games automatically save to the cloud?

Hey, I am just a casual gamer for my age (23). I really don't know that much about modern technology, I literally just use my Xbox One as you would, say, a Playstation 1. I only use it as a video game console. I keep hearing about this cloud thing and how
it shares info with other people. The thing is, I don't want to share things with others. I just want to get on to play a game for about an hour.

Do personal information and games automatically save to this cloud thing? And if so, can I change it to where it only saves directly onto my hard-drive? I really wish this was like all the previous consoles where it was simple to use.

    :)

    Xbox memory transfer question...

All game saves are saved to the cloud automatically, so all you need to do is sign in on the new console and let it sync.

Your information is saved by Microsoft who retain the information you gave them to allow you to register for XBox LIVE.

  5. Nighthawk, you have nothing to worry about. First, I'd like to say that Azrael is both wrong and right - wrong in the sense that it's NOT like other consoles, but right in the sense that MS does save your personal info (but strictly for their own use towards
creating an account for you and for promotions and such). The cloud is nothing more than a series of servers somewhere that stores the info for you or them to access at any time.

The way it works is when you create an account on XBL, that info is stored in the cloud - so they can keep track of things like which games you've purchased and such. The games you purchase, regardless of whether it's disc or digital, including your saves
for those games, are all stored in the cloud in addition to on your console. This has the benefit of allowing you to retrieve your games and saves even if they are deleted from your console.

As for your private info, MS follows all of the legal laws regarding privacy in whatever country you're from AND as a part of their console, you have the ability to share as little or as much of that info as you want (with things such as your real name,
games owned or played, achievements unlocked, etc.). The most important stuff, such as your address, email, phone number, financial info, etc. is ALWAYS kept confidential and out of the public eye and is protected.

With Xbox 1, your saves are saved to Xbox Live. Certain games including COD BO2 I think do this as well. But Minecraft Xbox 360 saves to your console HDD or the storage device you choose which can also be the cloud. I had some issues Syncing Minecraft Xbox
1 worlds and others have had this too. You couldn't even load the worlds without successfully syncing when it wanted you to sync. I think Microsoft went for this particularly for Xbox 1, since some out their mod game saves for Xbox 360.

As for the personal info and stuff, when you access certain pages which are about you and your account, the address bar on IE on your PC is highlighted green with a padlock, that's how serious they are at protecting you info and is what ANZ does for internet
banking log in page is highlighted green address bar with padlock. Microsoft also banned Xbox 360 consoles in the past (according to Wikipedia) which had modified or unknown software running on the console. Microsoft is also a reputable company. I read Google
and Yahoo provide free webmail were you can create email addresses under them, but their systems scan your emails to deliver target advertising. Where as Microsoft's outlook email client thingy doesn't. And the fact that they Xbox One Policy Reversal-ed the
requirement that the Xbox One had to have Kinect plugged in, in order for the console to function. But they scrapped that and Kinect does not breach any privacy law in any country because it can be turned off by disconnecting or through the Dashboard/software.

Well Microsoft is American, for those of us who are not, it does explain in their TOC that your countries laws including privacy apply. For Australia and NZ, we have good consumer and privacy legislation over here:

    8. APPLICABLE LAW.

    a. United States. If you acquired the application in the United States, the laws of the state where you live govern the interpretation of this agreement, claims for breach of it, and all other claims (including consumer protection unfair competition, and
tort claims), regardless of conflict of law principles..

    b. Canada. If you acquired the application in Canada, the laws of the province where you live govern the interpretation of this agreement, claims for breach of it, and all other claims (including consumer protection, unfair competition, and tort claims),
regardless of conflict of law principles.

    c. Outside the United States and Canada. If you acquired the application in any other country, the laws of that country apply.

Do we always have to save our xbox or 360 game to the cloud in order to use it on our xbox one console?

Yes, you do have to save your Xbox or Xbox 360 game to the cloud in order to continue playing the game on the Xbox One. Once the save is on the Xbox One, it will automatically be saved to the Xbox cloud every time you save the game on there.

Saving games while doing a Factory reset

They are saved both on the console and online, in the Cloud. So if you do a factory reset and loes the saves on the console that are saved locally, his games will sync automatically with the Cloud when he boots a game up so they will retrieve his saves
    that way.
