Do beta's take away from games?

Okay, but if you end your Destiny adventure there you wont get the special one time only name plate or play the new Moon mission.... But if you're reeeeeaaalllllly sure....

I do agree to an extent. Beta testing is like opening your Christmas present early, looking at it, playing with it for about 2 days, then re-wrapping it and putting it back under the Christmas tree. I've always thought so, but for Titanfall I simply couldn't
wait to play, and my Destiny purchase was riding on the beta. Gone are the days of Battlefront 2 when you could just hype yourself into sickness before you finally go the disc.

@Cheesy. You can't sell or give the codes away, any attempt can lead to being excluded from the preview and any future beta's....etc.

prolly does, now i have played it i have no desire to own it now but at the same time, it probably doesn't take as much away as the whole service crashing or not being available upon release because it hasn't be tested by a larger number but then i spose
you could be like bf4 and have a open beta and still suffer from overloading on the first day even though you've tested it and seen the issues.

 

In my opinion I think they are pointless, they are well... Beta's. They generally are a unfinished product.

I've never participated in a "beta" before, but the biggest benefit that I can think of that is since there are more testers,; there should be less bugs / glitches for the final product

I am all for beta testing. Especially for games like Destiny and Titanfall. Need to make sure those servers are up to par.

 

I don't think beta tests take away from the game, for me anyways, it's like buying a car, you can read about it, watch videos about it, but you never really know if you'll like the car until you test drive it.

I wasn't sure about Destiny, to me it looked like a over hyped version of Defiance, but after playing the beta Destiny is a day one buy for me.

 

Too much people (gamers) thinks a beta is somekind of demo and is made to please them....

Of course it advertise a product but the main point of a beta is to help devs to test their game.No more no less.

Did Destiny beta changed my mind ? Nope,it just confirm,what i thought about it.(Not really important for devs)

Did Destiny beta runs well ? For the big part yes,there are some issues here and there.But should be fixed until it's release.(Important for devs and future buyers).....

 

Playing the beta confirmed what I originally decided when they said we couldn't fly around in space. I'm not buying this game.

Sometimes the bugs / glitches from the Beta never get fixed at all. Maybe this (bugs / glitches not being fixed from the Beta) is due to a lack of time or maybe the developer just didn't care & is hoping that the gamers won't complain about it.

If the inability to fix the bugs / glitches is due to time restraints, at least a patch update to correct the issue(s) is in the works.

If the developer doesn't care about fixing the bugs / glitches, then the update will be in the works when gamers are really unhappy about the bugs / glitches. Thus forcing the developer to fix the problem & make their PR speech about how they're sorry for
the inconvenience.

I never said that all devs and publishers are clean....But that's their problems,not mine.I just avoid them.
