DNS setting on Google server change allowed?

I've got a question. I read that you can change your DNS setting on the Xbox to the Google servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 so that the Internet is faster.

Now the question. Is it from the side of Microsoft actually allowed under these terms S or it can cause a ban.

@IMerce - What happens if you change your console's DNS settings, to use a public DNS server instaed? For example, Google public DNS.

@bro1011 The nice thing about the DNS setting is it's easy to change back. Once you select the Manual Setting you can either contact your ISP for a DNS Server or enter the Google DNS. For Google your primary will be 8.8.8.8 and your secondary will be 8.8.4.4.
If it doesn't work you can go back into the Settings and switch it back to Automatic.

You can use any dns setting you like you won't get a ban for changing your dns setting

 

I'm just asking because you hear about DNS hacks and what Microsoft is careful about it and generally prohibits there to change something

Thank you for contacting Forum support!

You can use the other default DNS that was recently released.

Try setting up a manual DNS, that DNS will be 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1

Xbox One go to:

1. settings

2. network

3. network settings

4. advanced settings

5. DNS settings and set to manual (the primary is 1.1.1.1 and secondary is 1.0.0.1)

6. test all networks

I do recommend Port Forwarding
though. Should you want to set that up, please contact your internet provider or set it up when you sign into your router

Using a custom DNS is completely allowed. In fact, without a DNS you wouldn't be able to type a website (ex: xbox.com) and connect to it. Your ISP alredy provides one (so you can surf the internet) but it's very slow.

Speed-wise, CloudFlare DNS promises a free, fast and private DNS which is 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
