DNS Change Bug

Hi,

Its been a issue trying to change DNS to manual on xbox One, only automatic works well.

Theres going to be a fix for this bug soon? I need to change DNS to manual.

how to speed up your download speed on your xbox one

I thought this would be gone by now.

1. Changing your DNS can improve your download speed but it is not simply because you changed DNS. What happens is if your ISP DNS is bad it can resolve you to node that is not well suited for what you are trying to do. If your ISP DNS is not good this can improve your download speeds.
2. As it is more likely you hit the Xbox live download cap vs Dns issues. Depending on load the Xbox live server can limit your download speed.
3. As Indie stated there is a chance that you had ERA's(exclusive resource apps) running and that will limit your download speed.
4. Changing your DNS to google or Open DNS opens you up to information collection by google for selling to ad companies. At 1 point Cloud fare was offering free dns with a privacy policy.

Ok, it looks like the DNS is defaulting to IPv6. The xbox will not let me change the DNS manually (seems to be a bug). I tried disabling ipv6 in my router but that basically broke my internet so it's not a viable option. PLEASE FIX THIS MICROSOFT!

Could you give us a bit more information on your current situation? Are you getting any particular error message or code (XBOS-0000 or 0x00000000) that you can provide to us? Changing your DNS on your Xbox One console isn't going to be as reliable as changing
it on your router. Doing that should result in your Xbox picking up the DNS automatically. For assistance with that, you'll want to refer to your router's manual or your ISP.

Hi Miss Bijoux, thanks for the reply.

The xbox just says cannot comunicate with the xbox servers if I change it to manual. Just that. two weeks ago I have no problem with my DNS because i had it manual over 2 years, but I change it some days ago and I could not go back to manual, just automatic.
So it was working fine till I change it and want to go back.

I live in another country, so I use specifics DNS servers to access USA only sites.

Have you tried what I suggested above? Changing your DNS on your router, not your Xbox One? Also, what country are you currently residing in? Do note that if you are in a country that is not supported by Xbox Live, we will unfortunately be unable to assist
further.

Hi, I can change the DNS on my router but I need then as they are set. I just need to change it con the xbox console, but just cant. Like I say before, i was working fine 3 weeks ago, the problem is that I change it to auto and now cant change it to manual.
I guess it is a bug that needs a fix from microsoft cause it cannot be change and that is easy.
