DNLA media Player

    Scratch that, I've fixed the problem.

    I use DD-WRT instead of the stock firmware on my router, and I just discovered a bug in the current build I'm running which prevents wired LAN clients from seeing each other (wired -> wireless and vice versa are fine which is why my Xbox 360 didn't have
    an issue as it's wireless). I discovered a temporary fix for the issue and we're good to go. Thanks all of the help.

    For me the DLNA player originally had a bunch of kinks in it that made it really disfuntional from time to time but it still worked more times than not. After an update or two it was working flawlously but after the last update it almost always lets me see
    all my files and when i go into my music folders and when i try to play even the smallest playlist i get an error message stating to try again in a few moments. every now and then im allowedto listen to a few songs but in the middle of one ill get the same
    message and the same thing happens. I really think it was the last update truthfully.

    what you have to do is go to your Windows Media Player on your computer, go to streaming and allow streaming (if you play a video and click the icon in the top right it will take you to all your media)

    I just installed that plex media server to my PC and the xbox was able to detect that straight away so if your xbox can't detect the windows media play or the plex then my assumption would be either your anti-virus, firewall or your some setting in your
    router is blocking access.

    My Xbox doesn't even detect my PC. When I launch the media player app, I get the message that I have to connect to a DLNA server or USB drive to view media. If I launch my Xbox 360's media app, I see my desktop's DLNA server in addition to the Plex server
    I'm running. This is using the same network cable for both the 360 and the Xbox One.

    I am having troubles as well.

    I've followed the steps to allow streaming from Windows Media Player, and my Xbox One still detects no music when I fire up the Media Player Preview app. I've also tried turning Windows Firewall on or off and that doesn't change anything. If anybody has
    any other suggestions, please let us know.

    With my 360, I used Zune as my media extender, but unfortunately it looks like that will no longer work with Xbox One. Since much of my music collection is not matched to the Xbox Music cloud database, DLNA is my only option to listen to music through my
    console. I had hoped to replace my 360 for this function since it does not get a great wireless signal in my living room (I am using the not so great antenna add-on), but nothing is working on my Xbox One.
