DLC Sharing?

I have two Xbox's at home - one I use (Xbox A) and one my son uses (Xbox B).

I purchased two boxed copies of a game (Destiny) which my son and I play together online.I then purchased DLC for the game (The Dark Below) and downloaded this using my gamertag on my Xbox (Xbox A).

I want my son to be able to play the DLC as well - however, if I try and download the game on his Xbox (Xbox B) it asks him for credit card information. As he is a child, I don't want to put any credit card information on his account.

If I logon to his Xbox (Xbox B), then I can't purchase it because I've already purchased it. All I can do is download it again to that console. This is fine if I play it on his Xbox, but as we want to play at the same time, I can't be signed in to both Xbox's
at once.

So, my question is how to play the same DLC on both consoles at the same time, using our own separate accounts without having to enter any credit card information on his account?

I was also told that if I logon to his Xbox and play it on there (as the DLC will download and follow my gamertag), he could use my Xbox and play the DLC there as well without me having to be signed in there. Is that accurate? If it is, that would suggest
you only need to purchase DLC once and that wouldn't seem to make sense.

Well, guess I was thinking right. There's gonna be new DLC for Titanfall. This is already an era where DLC is going to expand the life of a game. So guys, what do you think? DLC worth going for?

If you log onto your sons console and set this as your home console, then any person can use the content downloaded onto it. This also applies to Xbox live, only you will need to purchase it and then any user on the home console has access.

Only you will have access to the content on your console, and it can't be used to play Downloaded content when offline.

If I set my sons console as my home Xbox, then surely this would just be the same thing in reverse?

 

log into your sons xbox with your profile, then set it as home console. It won't matter who is then logged in as all your content is available to users, using that console.

The only downside is you will have to be logged in and connected to the internet to be able access content on your console.

It does work as you still have access rights no matter what console you play on.

This is all a throwback to what MS originally planned with XBone.

It only works on 1 console and be aware you can only change home console 3 times per year.

OK, perhaps one thing I didn't make very clear is that we both want to play together online at the same time, with the same games. If I designate my son's Xbox as my home console then all of the licensing transfers from mine to my son's, so I suspect it
will be the same issue in reverse.

Anyway, I just tried something else. I logged onto my son's Xbox and logged on as him on my Xbox and tried it that way and it worked. I was then able to play Destiny Dark Below on both consoles simultaneously. If you do it the normal way around, my son gets
the message in Destiny that he doesn't have the DLC and therefore we can't play it (unless I logon to his Xbox of course).

This would suggest that the DLC is tied to both the Xbox hardware and the gamertag rather than just the gamertag, i.e. I've gone to his Xbox, I can download the DLC because I purchased it originally and my son can play it on my console because the content
is also already there.

I'm not sure what the EULA has to say about doing it like that, but it does work. Of course, when we want to play on the game together, we have to swap rooms. Alternatively, I guess I could swap the Xbox's around .

Trust me. If you have a reliable internet connection follow the advise of post 2. If could save you a fortune.

You'd only have needed to download and pay for one copy of Density and pay one xbox live subscription.

Set Xbox B as your profiles home xbox and log into Live on Xbox A. If the internet ever is down that the only problem you'll have. In which case just swap xboxs physically
