    DLC games - are they region locked?


    Hi,

    I live in Sweden and is planning to buy a Xbox One from Amazon germany. It comes bundled with Forza Horizon DLC and Hot Wheels DLC. Do you know if these codes are region locked, or if they could be installed from Sweden as well?

    When I google, I find different information for this topic. It seems to have been a region lock a few years ago, but maybe not now?

    Mickey, are your account, game disc, and DLC all from the same region? Are they from the region you're in currently?

    IS DLC region locked

    yes all prepaid dlc codes that are included in games are region locked to the areas they were purchased in

    A lot of digital content is region locked.

    As Germany & Sweden are both in Europe then the codes should work but the thing is with Germany a lot of their content is country specific due to certain content not being allowed in that country.

    I don't think Forza Horizon would be country specific so you should be ok.

    Xbox One DLCs are region free whereas Xbox 360 DLCs are region locked.

    Thank you both!

    I should add that I mixed up what DLC actually is. DLC seems to be addons to game. So Forza Horizon 3 that comes bundled is actually delivered with a game download code, and the Hot Wheels expansion as DLC.

    Is it the same with the game download codes, that they are region free on Xbox One?

    Incorrect.Xbox one dlc used to all be region free but people were changing location to get things cheaper so now the majority of digital content is now region locked.

    Yeah,you'll most likely get most codes with the console,one for the game & one for the Hot Wheels dlc.

    As Germany & Sweden are both classed as being in the same region then the codes should work.

    Please make xbox 360 region free.

    DLC's region locked = no problem,but Full Game Region Locked = that's the problem.

    If they make xbox 360 region free atleast i can download the Full Game with no problem,as with DLC's i don't usually buy DLC's of any game.

    As mister gwyther said certain content are region locked blackops is region locked

    Not all content is region locked it is ideal to create an account in your actual region

    Prepaid dlc codes like gears of war and blackops are region locked and will fail before completion

    Remeber the region locks are not limited to those two games

    But for games and dlc you have the issue with your best option is to buy your actual region

    That would be why dlc codes are all region locked to the region they were purchased in

    Regional lock rules applies to dlc if the game requires a us address that would be why too mass effect may not have region locked but mass effect us codes can only be redeemed in a us account

    it not that woule be why you are getting that error

    not all Dlc are region locked however kinect games and certain violent games are region locked

    Remeber some games require certain region dlc like a us blackops will only support English dlc which may not be available in your region

    This is true for most region locked games

    Blackops is region free but dlc is restricted by language and region
