DLC content on USB drive

I have a very small hard drive on my 360 and do not want to spend an arm and a leg to buy a bigger one so I was just going to go buy a 32 gig USB drive. My question is I have all of my saved game content on my cloud right now. If I were to buy a USB drive
and download my DLC onto my USB would I be able to use it on the game I am playing even though that game content is saved on the cloud? Im not sure if the question makes sense or not but hopefully it does.

To clarify in case it doesn't I put my COD Ghosts disc into my console and select my cloud to access my saved progress. When I go online and play extinction I want to be able to access my DLC which is going to be saved onto my USB...is that possible? Or
do they have to be saved in the same place?

Transfering DLC

Tried using a USB drive? That will be alot faster that downloading off internet. Copy DLC from old Xbox HDD to USB drive. Copy DLC from USB drive to new Xbox HDD. Make sure you transfer content licenses to new Xbox:

Ok, this is how it works.

Extinction+ Online for ghosts does NOT use save data, your rank is saved to a cloud - like MASS storage sytem that infinity ward manages. This is so it cannot be tampered with , and for the conveniencevof being able to recover an account and play. Now,
when the game starts, you may see it ask you what storage device you want it to use. This does NOT mean it will only utilize that specific device. This is where the game will be saved. (Which , if you're playing extinction , you can select any device, or,
preferably, the one with the DLC on it.)

I've just tested this myself with Gears of War 3 saves on my XBOX 360 Hard Drive and a USB Flash Drive plugged in that I moved the RAAM's Shadow DLC onto and I selected my hard drive as my primary selection, it loaded the gamer profile and saves from the
hard drive and when I went to start RAAM's Shadow it loaded the DLC from the USB Flash Drive just fine. I then removed the USB Flash Drive, it prompted me that the game had to restart because downloadable content was removed (thus proving this will work

)

So, in short it's fine that your saves are on the hard drive and the DLC your using is on the flash drive, it will work fine.
