Divinity Original Sin: yay or nay?

It's in this week's deals with gold. I just want to hear some thoughts. Is it any good? Does it have good story telling and combat?

This is a great role playing game and now more people are going to be able to enjoy it.

I got bored of it pretty fast didn't like combat system

 

Is the combat system like Diablo 3? It has the same view point so I'm assuming it's the same or very similar?

 

It's like playing "Diablo III" as an RPG.

It's an excellent game but it's an RPG that's heavy on story and dialogue. In fact all the dialogue in the entire game is spoken and voiced.

The combat is good but it's not non-stop combat. You're called to investigate a murder and as you go about the town you start to unlock a heavy amount of dialogue as you investigate the case and open up a Pandora's Box of new potential quests and investigations.

It's very polished, the controls work excellent for the ONE but whereas "Diablo III" is a fast paced top down shooter though this is viewed form the same perspective it is actually an RPG with turn based combat.

It comes very highly recommended on Metacritic as well. Check out some gameplay footage and see what you think.

It's good but will probably need to be the one game you play for a while to get through it.

 

^^ Thanks for the info AZ. I like the fact it's heavily story based but I'm not the biggest fan of turn based RPG's. I so wish there was a demo.

 

In that case the fact that it's not "non-stop combat" should work in your favour.

Just Google the combat and you'll get an idea what it's like. The developers did a great job of mapping controls to the controller so turn based combat isn't as cumbersome as you might think.

What's great about this game is that your actions have consequences... but not in a cliche or forced "fork in the road" path.

My character saved some sailors who's boat was on fire and in danger of sinking. My actions were met with immediate applause from all witnesses and after that it wasn't uncommon townspeople to remark "Hey, you're the one that saved those sailors in the
harbour..." when speaking with me.

The script is well written and intelligently written. There's a lot to do but the pace isn't break neck speed.

How much do they want for it on the GWG discount?

 

It's €22.00 and it's normally €54.99. I watched gameplay and I'm really considering getting it. There are a few things I liked.

No handholding is a big plus to me. Lots of items to manage in the inventory. I'm a sucker for games like that. I love managing inventory and having to discard items and such and deciding what to keep. The music sounded great. The combat actually looked
decent.

I'm probably going to get it. Hopefully it'll last at least 50 hours. I don't need the break neck speed gameplay.

 

Well after watching about 10 different reviews on YouTube and all of them good I've decided to but it since its on the cheap til Tuesday. I have a feeling it'll be awesome.
