  1. Ditch my PS3...?

    Hi there.

I currently have a 2-year old PS3 Slim and i love it. Why? I love the titles, the graphics, the apps and it does everything i want it to.

I'm on a "wait-and-see" mode and see which next-gen console is right for me. Have been hearing all these "Xbox One vs PS4" gibberish and i want to find out which one is for me so i want to discuss it here.

    1. Apps - Most of my apps are free (like BBC iPLayer, 4OD, Youtube, Netlfix, Amazon Prime, etc) but the games i bought on the PSN store will obviously be lost and wasted. Stupid question but can i transfer those game
purchases to the same game on Xbox? Is there a way to ask for a refund from Sony or the game developer?

And what apps are currently available to download from the Xbox store?

    2. First-party titles - I'm not fuzzy about 1st-party titles and i haven't got many games at home anyway. Mostly fighting games, FIFA14 and the odd action games. I did liked that Rome game. Are 1st-party titles better
    than the PS4's?

    3. Games - I heard about these certain games that run at a better resolution/framerate on the PS4 than the Xbox One. But in reality does that matter? With Microsoft's decision to release a KInect-less Xbox will it in
theory make the games look better if not equal now with the PS4?

    4. USB - What frustrated me with the PS3 is it has USB ports but when i connect my portable hard drive the PS3 for some unknown reason can't detect the files on my PHD. Even being Fat32 and supported file format (e.g.
MP4 file) it still cannot find the damn files. My question is: Can i connect any PHD to the Xbox One and be able to watch/view my files and stream them as normal?

    5. Connected devices - I usually connect my Android phone to my PS3 and then play music and watch Youtube videos by "throwing" files from my phone to my console. Can i also do that on an Xbox?

    6. Media playback - Does the Xbox One support Flac, and .mkv file formats?

    Please advice. Thanks.

    :)

    Ditch my PS3...?

    1. Doubtful, probably not.

    2. I cannot speak to what PS4 offers but One has some great games... Forza 5, Ryse, and many many more.

    3. The impact of a One without a Kinect will not receive that big of a bump in processing, we will have to wait for DirectX12 for any significant increase.

    4. Not currently. There is speculation that the May update will include external storage functionality.

    5. I watch Youtube and movies and listen to music from my Windows 8.1 laptop on my One.

    6. No FLAC and .mkv are not supported file types.

My suggestion is to do your own research. There is plenty of information available. I hope my answers have helped.
