Distorted audio, sometimes cuts out

I'm having audio issues with my xbox one original console.

My basic setup has the xbox connected by an HDMI cable to my tv, and I run a basic 3.5 mm stereo audio aux cable to my stereo, which has two speakers. I've tested these cables by unplugging them from my xbox and plugging them into my computer. When I stream
from my laptop to the tv, the audio is perfect. I plug my xbox one back and load up a game or Netflix show and the sound is bad again.

Lately I've been using my xbox mostly for streaming Netflix, though the sound issues are also present when I play games. Sometimes the sound cuts out completely and sometimes I lose sound in one of my two speakers. No matter what movie or show I'm streaming,
the xbox seems to have certain sounds that are absolutely horrible. For example, gunfire and explosions, and sometimes "s" and "th" sounds.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have this same issue, disappointing to see how long ago the OP was made and that this still exists. It sounds completely distorted, OP described it perfectly. Lag, cutting out, sometimes the headset actually straight up disconnects if it gets bad enough. Of course when I play audio through my sound bar, I have absolutely zero issues so it clearly has to do with the headset, or even worse as @SpaceTerraMoto pointed out, the wireless tech within the console itself.

Microsoft... please fix this.

I am having the same issue on my PC. when using bluetooth it works perfectly fine (mic and everything). But I bought the wireless adapter and when I am using the wireless adapter i get the distortion, cutting in and out, and sometimes it just flat out disconnects from the adapter.

still the same issue, audio choppy, cuts out, distorted, "crackle/pops"...i guess to wake microsoft up we'll just have to rma our consoles. A few thousand to hundreds of thousands of consoles coming back may wake them up to the problem. Im waiting on the
april patch, and if its not fixed im getting one that doesn't pop/crackle.

Are you noticing the audio cutting out on all games, or just specific ones? Do you have the same problem if you try to play movies or CDs?
